Got my order booked for the partially serrated Bob Lum folder. When will they be released? Also, the blade is 3 13/16" in length, how much of that is serrated? (50/50 or 40/60 or 60/40)?

Just wondering so I can daydream about this knife a little more until they arrive at my door

Word I have is that the C46's are backordered, and will ship as soon as they're in the door....as for edge availability, they are either plainedge, or combination, but I'm not sure if it's 50/50 or 60/40. I'll let you know what I find out.

Sounds good to me, I can wait, but it is going to be hard being I am sort of an impatient kind of guy! Longer the wait, the more they become appreciated

Since December, the line that Spyder has been handing out is that the knife is "in production but backordered". I've yet to find anyone who has actually seen one, or believes this line. Any ideas on what specifically has been holding this knife up?

The face of Bob Lum to go behind this knife! Pics of the designers and makers as well to go behind a knife makes knife collecting much more enjoyable & interesting

Brian, I'll let you know when I get mine. I have mine on order and was told this week that it should be any day now. I HOPE !!

I handled a production prototype that Bob had about a year ago. This was a japanese produced version (that apparantly replaced the ill fated US G10 handled version?). Anyway the knife appeared to have a problem w/the liner lock in that it traveled the width of the blade and wobbled (keeping in mind that it was a proto). Bob mentioned something about the japanese manufacurer not being up to par in terms of making liner locks yet. I wonder if this is one reason no one seems to have the knife yet? Bob doesn't even have one aside from the proto. When one thinks of the other Seki produced liner locks (remember the early Al Mar liner lock--the Quicksilver, ie quick-to-wear-out and close inadvertantly) and Spydercos desire to keep QC up, it doesn't inspire confidence that we'll be seeing the Lum soon.

Any info regarding this that you can share with us Sal or Danelle to verify or expand what booshank said about this knife?

I don't want to be scared off now !!!

The Bob Lum is a slow production knife, because of the way it is manufactured. It does not have a standard tanto tip, it has what is called (spelled phontically here)a hamagudiba tip. Rounder than a standard tanto, and this tip has to be done on a slack belt, each one by hand, not on a grinding machine. Very time consuming.

We are able to put out about 100 a month, and we only send out what passes QC, of course. If release is slow because QC is thorough..that is a good thing, no?

The Lum's are being released now, and some have trickled out...they're coming, slow but sure.

Canceled out on this one! My supplier told me it will now be a long while if at all that they will ever see this knife! Bumber.

They wouldn't tell me why!

Hey Charlie! Hope the weekend went well! This is one I gotta have in plain edge. Put me on the list! Guys, try the Spyderco store www.fe3stone.com Cheers! Fish

danelle, the C46 lum is a 60/40 plainedge/serrated blade. fish, regarding plainedges, i've been told that they will not be avaible anytime soon-the plain/serrated version is the only one i've ever seen. when you stop by next weekend i'll show you my c46-trust me, you'll love it. regarding availibility, there are still some collectors who have not rec'd this knife. i'll also look into availibility/E.T.A. on this knife
