C52PGY Calypso on eBay

An auction for an C52PGY Calypso Jr. ended today and it went for almost 136 bucks! It had the grey handle and clip (obviously) and VG-10 steel. Was there something special about these that I don't know about? Small production run or something? A store nearby had a few on the shelf the last time I went in there, so I might stop by and check them out.

Grey Sprint, several years ago. Historically slow sellers, but apparently the supply is finally drying up, necessitating a price run. They are the same as the Black and Burgundy except for color and blade steel.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to go see if that store still has them for a good price. If so, I'm going to snatch them up!

Well CombatGrappler, IMO the price in this special auction was far to high! I guess it was a match between two interested people, nothing else.

Just for clarity there is a Black VG10 caly Jr besides the ZDP one. As far as the auction, I agree with Peter that it was high. Maybe some one needed to fill a gap in a collection.

I swung by the shop today and discovered that I am getting old, as my memory is playing tricks on me. They had two of the black handled VG-10 models in SE. I looked at one of them and I don't know what happened, but the blade looked REALLY cheesy. Really shiny like a Franklin Mint knife, and it looked like someone tried to sharpen it and messed up the tip...at least, it wasn't like any other Spydie I've ever seen, and I've had quite a few. Maybe somebody bought it and then returned it.

They also had three 440V Natives for which they wanted 60 bucks each. I could literally drive 5 blocks from that place and get the S30V version at Wal-Mart for 40.

Wow, that is insane. I bought 2 of those Grey Calypsos when the Outlet had them on closeout for around $40. Traded one off still have the other. I would let it go for $136 in a heartbeat.
