C83 Persian...

Yep, Sawyers (razorsharp) has been listing un-numbered ones there too, at five bucks less than the numbered version. I just did a BIN on one a few minutes ago. :D

Wow!

That is a beautiful knife. One more to add to my "must have" list.

Dennis, if you like larger folders, I can pretty well guarantee you will not be disappointed in this knife. Mine arrived yesterday. For the first hour after opening the box, I could not put it down! Wrote up a little "first impressions" review and posted it on the Spyderco factory forum, take a look if you like.

The thing that amazes me the most is the quality you get for the price. To my eye, the fit and finish is comparable to my beloved Kiwis and close to, if not equal to, that of my 25th Anniversary Delica.

Does anyone have a pic of the Persian next to another knife for comparison?

Here's one of mine, with a Delica and a Kiwi for size comparison.

Don't make me look! Don't make me look!
Damn, too late--now I gotta get one.

lol. Black clip or chrome clip--I guess you can never please everyone. Me? Black is Beautiful, Baby!

I just realized that maybe they made a mistake on the list price. Maybe they meant 135 British pounds (= US$230). Hurry and get yours before they catch the mistake! :D

Gentlemen, thanks for the kind comments on the Persian design. This knife is designed to meet a variety of cutting needs. Many features that I like in a design are incorporated in this knife. A dropped blade angle and a dropped butt both work to move the manipulation of the knife to large muscle groups. By doing this you reduce fatigue in your hand and can maintain better control of the knife after prolonged use. I hold a knife many ways, which is determined by the cutting task. I think it is necessary to have multiple grip positions to be able to preform those tasks safely. The Persian allows for several safe grip positions. These grip positions and knife contours allow the user to know exactly the positon in your hand. An unexpected attribute of this knife is the right pocket carry postion. The curved handle lets you slide your hand into your right pocket without scraping your hand. I've carried my knife for about a week doing all sorts tasks and have yet to have the knife poke me bending or squatting, it carries well.
I want to thank Spyderco for bringing this design to market at a good price with exceptional quality. I'm very proud to have my name on this piece....Thanks...Ed Schempp

You know...I really have to stay away from this forum. It's putting a dent in my bank account! :)

Dent? Between the Persian, the gray Calypso, and the Chinook II, not to mention the SypderFly - mine's gonna look like a Geo Metro after a head on collision with a bus! :D

You're not kidding about putting a dent in the ole bank account. So far, in the last couple of weeks, I have obtained(either trades or purchase) 2 carbon fiber Police models, and a Persian.

Danbo, that's a fine looking fixed blade in your avatar. What is it?

Guyon, the knife in my avatar is a really fine hunter made by Ed Caffrey. 52100 blade and a choice piece of stag. Unfortunately, I missed the window of opportunity and it is not mine. Somebody is a very happy camper, I'll bet.

I got mine today. Spyderco, as usual, has done an outstanding job in bringing us this piece. Fit and finish are outstanding. It has real bolsters! I can't believe it is selling for the price it is. In all honesty I would have expected the MSRP to be more. Exceptional value.

The handle is very comfortable in a variety of grips. You can tell that a lot of thought went into the design. I can tell that the knife will be very versatile in its uses.

Ed Schempp did a great job designing this knife and Spyderco did a great job of producing it.

The Persian will be seeing a lot of carry time.

Thank you Spyderco!

Hey, wouldn't it be great for Spyderco to make up a series of fixed blades styled just like this Persian? Or, am I just dreaming again?
