over the past 4 summers or so, i'v helped my friend sarah run her outddoor science program..... it is a lot of fun... and i can't complain for getting paid to play in the woods....
we primarily study our local history and ecology, combing with a bit of earth/primitive skills.... i've only done 2- two week sessios so far this summer.(i hurt my knee again..)...
these pics were taken at a few local state parks.....
these were on tuesday... this place is right across the street from my house... i mtn. bike and hike these woods on a regular basis.... it is henry cowell state park and right next to it roaring camp railroads.. it got a really cool steam engine train that takes you on rides a round the forest, or to santa cruz and back...(i hear this darn train everyday
) i hadn't ridden it in a long time... so we decided to take the kids on a ride... they loved it.. it was a little over an hour...
since i am with a hord of kids, i tend to be more selective/cautious about the blades i take.... i had my ever-present mini-griptillian, SAK camper and a crawford necker....
here's a pic of an old tressel that burnt down in the 60's...
mt little guy.. cypress...
the train letting off some steam towards the end of our ride...
these trees are sooooooo tall.. it's amazing...
and the cool thing is, they're everywhere...
more to come.. part 2..
