I'm not sure why there is a variation, maybe one of our Buck family members can fill us in (CJ, Joe). I can only give info on what I have. The non-glossy gun blue are "04" tang stamps (one stag, one Rosewood). One of the glossy black blades is a Rosewood and is tang stamped Idaho "05" (this is my constant EDC sheath knife). The other glossy black blade, stag is tang stamped "07". I can't comment on any other years as this is a I have.

No. The AG stag is not High gloss....not at all. That glossy look of the stag handles in the photo was due to the silhouette back drop and front lighting I set up for the photo. If I were you guys I'd take advantage of the current sale on those Stag 196's....as you all know the AG stag 110's are gone.

Oh, the 196 AG also has the jet black glossy blade and is tang stamped "06"
