Cabelas has a line of S30V Bucks!

I ordered my 110 Thursday. I'm really looking forward to getting it and comparing it to my MS 110 in BG-42 :D

I bought the Vanguard in ATS-34 a couple of years ago. Darn it, they had to go and make a better one so I have to keep buying them!

WT Beck:

I bought the same knife just a few months ago. I love it, and it will be a while before I'm in the market for the upgraded Vanguard.

I now have 3 Vanguards. One 420HC with assymmetrical Buckcote edge, one Master Series with BG42, one Cabelas S30V with essentially Buckcote on the sides only. My favorite test is to chop a notch out of the side edge of a raw beef rib bone using the knives. The assymmetrical Buckcote edge rolled when I tried this. The BG42 was totally unaffected. I plan to test whether the S30V does as well as the BG42.

My Buck 110 Alaskan Guide just arrived and it is the tightest Buck folder I've ever owned. First thing I did was get some gun oil in the pivot and lockback and then I worked the action a bit. With great attention to detail this is a really nice knife - a keeper.

After having this knife for all of a couple hours now, I must say it is one of the nicest looking folders I own. The combination of polished brass, rosewood and a polished black blade is striking and the fit of the knife feels very nice. The belt sheath is brown leather. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Just got mine, here's a couple of shots of it with a Pete's custom and the 3 sheaths I made to carry 110's in.

Nice knife for sure, well made, rock solid lock and razor sharp. Appearance wise I'm not totally impressed (I knew that when I placed the order). I think they could have done much better with black wood scales but what the heck - it'll make a great user!

Dammit Chad, your pics have pushed me over the edge... I think I'm gonna order one tomorrow! :D

Well, my new camping knife has arrived, the crosslock. I am impressed by the blade grind, a very well executed hollow grind that is just the way I like it, thin behind the edge. I think it is even better than the Buck Mayo that I have looked at.

Go for it, how can you go wrong for $60. Best bang for the buck (no pun intended) going right now IMO ;)

Just an FYI..... these 110's are on backorder now. I ordered mine today, and it's gonna be awhile. :grumpy: On the good side... I will probably forget about it and it will show up at probably a moment when I need something that will make me :D

It came today!!!! And yes, I'm :D 'ing like a madman. First impressions are very positive. I was unsure if I would like the blade coating, I do like it... it is way cool looking. I love the reassuring heft of the 110. The leather sheath is a nice cordovan hue of leather and is quite handsome. I'm tempted to get a custom sheath made too, just for giggles. This knife is freakishly sharp, in fact I cut myself closing it the very first time! There were a few issues/questions that I addressed over in the Buck forum with it, namely a little lateral blade-play when it is closed. There is no blade-play what so ever when opened though. All in all, a fantastic knife at any price... but frickin' incredible at $60!
I wasn't expecting it until October, so this was a very welcome addition to my otherwise semi-crappy Monday.
