Under the malign influence of cabin fever , just barely avoided acquiring this monstrously :
http://www.coldsteel.com/viking-axe.html , which would have a ludicrous blunder ! Couldn't hardly be more inappropriate for my situation / life-stage . Must have been my inner viking child and the winter blahs .

Anybody else with similar dark urges ? ;)

After clicking on your link and discovering your object of interest, I wonder what kind of situation that item might be appropriate for. It is somewhat interesting as a part of history. But not a part of my household!!

That dude must be a chick magnet.

In all honestly though, if I went on a bender and it arrived one day in the mail, I wouldn’t be shocked. Kinda cool in a disturbing way. :D

I grew up in Alaska, cabin fever is a killer. Books were my thing, and boy did I end up with some strange ones by the end of winter. Thankfully it was pre-internet and everybody always wanted to add a huge shipping bump to go to AK, or god knows what I may have ended up with. Now my cabin fever builds only if I can't get a chance to bodger away in my garage, but I have to this growing desire to pick up a KaBar Swabbie on clearance at the KaBar website and mod it into something a Lord of the Rings extra might wear. Given the ludicrous nature of this plan, I can only classify it as a similar Dark Urge.

Lol, that is too funny. It’s ok, it happens to all of us. We all wish wearing a longsword was still fashionable.

Nor mine ! That's kinda my whole point . :p

Besides , you can't even get a decent swing with this thing inside a normal sized domicile . You'd need a much more compact version !!

Good thing you didn't but it or you'd be an official mall ninja zombie prepper type.

Probably not the worst that no one could ever buy, but still probably pretty useless to most people.

I know the feeling.

A couple of years ago I was very close to buying this full size battle ready medieval sword:

Unless your job description is "pillager " ? o_O

Long ago , in my youth , the Alaskan wilderness attracted me strongly . But once I understood how the winters would be ...nah .

The most terrifying thing about that beauty is the $880 price tag ! The Viking Axe can be had for the amazing bargain price of ~$90 . It weighs almost 5 lbs so , less than $20 per lb .

Yeah, it's crazy. I was real into it too, reading all about blade types n stuff. Some are for piercing others for cutting. This one(XVIa blade) can do both pretty well.

I clicked and saw the axe. The first thing I thought was "yeah, a silly thing to own." But then I remembered that I've had the KaBar Zombie Dagger in my cart at least three times. I haven't pulled the trigger yet. But it could happen.

Yes. I have these urges; but they are a pull towards the light! You must have that axe! It will complete you! It will be your companion in good times and bad! It will support you on long walks, be a prop to lean on while filling your gas tank, steady the aim of your rifle when hunting, help pull that last box of Cheerios off the top shelf when shopping, fend off unruly perfume sprayers in the department store, test for depth of icy puddles, and be the final word in road rage confrontations.

On the Cold Steel Special Projects site (ltspecpro.com) the price is $50 less. $100 is cheap for this kind of wonder tool!

That's just the thing I need to fight off Ivar and King Harold's forces to hold on to Kattegat!

I've had the same impulses with all sorts of swords and weaponry. I know it'd be impractical as all hell, but I still have a desire to own a broadsword. One day I imagine I'll have one.

If I win the lottery or something, yeah it's coming home..
