Some preliminary pictures of an ordered knife.

4 1/2" blade lenght in cable damascus (1085), mokume guard with lanyard hole and epoxyed rope for the handle. Mokume lanyard bead.

That's a beefy package, I like how the cable Damascus is twisting in the same direction as the rope handle. And I like the lanyard from the guard.

I've been pondering the logistics of a rope handle just like that for a while now. I'm glad you got it worked out. (-even though I thought it was my idea.) :o

Very interesting handle! I think it would be rough to hold, but I guess if it was epoxied, it would be smoother.
 
At a glance, it looks big, crude, and savage. Upon further inspection, all the nuances and subtlties really pop. I love pieces that make you look a seccond, and even third time before you can take it all in. Wonderfully done.
