"Cacoon" survival shelter...

The way people are nowadays, I'd be afraid of waking up and being some dumb kids pinata in a rude wake up call.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind using it for fun or as a survival tent to keep at the bottom of a pack.

Dangling from a tree in a giant blue testicle is practically the definition of outdoor survival.

well thats me sold :D:thumbup:

I presume its not much use if there is no trees ? At least with the likes of a hennessy hammock you can still make a tent thing if there is no trees.

well, im sure it would work .. if it was used in a warmer climate. i think that in a cold, windy environment or season it would be a problem keeping warm because it would be completely exposed to the wind on all sides.

The other thought i had was that you could have serious difficulty with the tree you hang it off. the branch could be weak, the tree could be hit by lightening, or having a hard time getting out in an emergency.

I would also be concerned that if you got some salt from your hands on the strap that it hangs from that squirrels or some other little animal may chew on it at night and you end up crashing to the ground with a ruined shelter and it wouldnt be a warranty issue!

this shelter however may have uses for rock/mountain climbing, just hang it from the roof of an overhang and you got a tent! --- Eric

I'm thinking that this won't get past the (bad) design stage. Not all new ideas are good ones.

They market it as a survival tool...Yet, there's no room to have a sleeping bag covered you in that thing, and it would provide minimal warmth in colder conditions.

I don't even need to comment on the appearance. That's what the internet wisecrack experts are for.

Apparently the
"Bright warm colors and fabrics on the inside help you stay warm by keeping your body heat in and any wind and wetness out."

So if you sleep in a neon orange bag you're set!

if you think 10 seconds about it you realised it is only an improved hammock, and I mean improved in the sense "not as good as the original".
