Cactus Juice treatment question-

I think, theoretically at least, that a pressure pot won't increase how much is absorbed, as long as it soaks long enough at normal pressure after vacuum. It should decrease the soak time needed to achieve the same penetration however.

It won’t increase how much, but if a very dense wood might take two weeks without pressure, we might get that down to a few days instead. The professionals can get up to 4000psi. I can get 175.

Willie, could you use a salvaged hydraulic ram and build a tank on the end that the rod provides the pressure to it. You should be able to greatly increase the pressure. Just throwing an idea out, no clear idea if it will work or how hard it would be to achieve.

If I was to try that, id get my brother who’s an engineer to run some numbers to make sure the vessel could withstand the pressure. Those pressures are dangerous if something goes wrong.

Something that may not be realized is that once the wood has been put under vacuum to where there is vacuum throughout the wood, and the vacuum released, there is approx. 30 psi of atmospheric pressure on the wood pushing the CJ back into it.

Yes. The actual saturation happens when vacuum is released. This is why the soak time is critical. And why pressure applied during soak can speed the process.
