CAK and WWII Differences?

The CAK will have the Chiruwa handle (full, exposed tang), the WWII may have a Chiruwa handle, it may have a full, hidden tang.

For the same length, the CAK will generally be thicker, heavier and more capable of heavy chopping. The WWII will be lighter, suitable for chopping, but better at lighter tasks, and faster as a weapon.

The CAK generally has a pointier tip than the WWII.

The CAK is warrantied as a prybar, the WWII is not (nor is any other kukri).

Titha WW II is more typical. Lighter and handier than a CAK. Less pointy and thinner also, usually. My Murali WW II is almost 1/2" thick and pointy, but it's not typical. WW II is great for general lighter-duty use and the CAK is end of the world ready. Just to be clear, the WW II was made for war and is rated for heavy field use, it just fits better with campsite work than the CAK IMHO. Everyone really should have both!:)
 
Hypothetical: Let's say your wife lets you by just ONE kukri. Would be used around the yard/woods/camping as a chopper and probably be with the bug out/in bag as a survival tool when not in use.

Would you prefer: CAK, M43, GRS, or perhars a different one? What are the reasons for making the choice you make?

FYI, a Mora Clipper is on the way for light duty/precision/edc stuffs. Also have a Ranger RD7 that sees regular use splitting kindling for the wood stove.
Just trying to get an informed opinion before I make a purchase because I know my wife will resist my desire to buy more kukris with everything she has.
 
M43, because it's the best all-rounder for everything from chopping to peeling logs to harvesting plants to fighting (if need be -- you mentioned SHTF).

A close second for me would be one of the lighter AKs (or preferably CAK) that have been coming out lately.

Either one of the above in 18-20" length, depending on how big you are.

Welcome to the most touchy subject on this forum. How can we have more than one birthday a year? I find that as long as there are presents for the wife too, one can get away with a lot of knives gathering dust and never being used. You still have to explain who is this lovely lady Yangdu that you keep constantly e-mailing that holds the key to your happiness, or is this an overstatement...

But seriously, I would say get a foxy folly or a YCS whichever comes up on DOTD first. If you can't wait, then get an 18" WW II. If chiruwa tang is crucial, then get a M43. If beauty is crucial, then get a Chitlangi. If chopping is crucial, then get a large CAK or a bonecutter. If HIKV is crucial, get them all even at the cost of one's marriage :)

Edit: You can come up with a lot of reasons why you pick up this kuk over another when going out, but when you are honest with yourself the answer is always: because it felt right'. Whatever that means.
 
hmmm I'm sort of inclined to the cak and bonecutter; whats the price on a standard bone cutter these days?
 
HIKV cannot be cured, only satiated for brief periods of time. For me it usually starts coming back by the time the triangle box has been taken by the recycling truck. At present I only own 4 HI products, 2 users and 2 that are my "museum pieces" - all made by Rajkumar by coincidence. As my bank account and the situation in Nepal allow there will hopefully be many more added to the list. Just have to convince my girlfriend that wall mounted multi-sword holders are better than regular old framed art for decorations. Maybe one of those sexy Tirtha chitlangis like Joesharko nabbed on 4/20 would infect her with HIKV.....
