A bare week ago, I received a PM from Tyson A Wright Tyson A Wright , saying that he and his wife had a California care package for me :) I was amazed when it arrived today, and thrilled when I opened it

Tyson and his wife have celebrated Yorkshire Day with great enthusiasm the past couple of years, and it was so thoughtful of them to share something with me like this. I love to learn more about where my friends here on the forum live, and the two beautiful books enclosed are going to teach me a great deal.

There's also an incredible laminated guide to the raptors of Western North America, and a 2023 calendar to put on my wall :)

There's some tasty-looking almonds for me to snack on while I'm learning too, as well as a couple of cool California fridge magnets

And, as you can see, Tyson enclosed a knife for me too :) I was in my teens when I first read of the US 'Buck Knife', and like many folks in Europe, Buck were one of the first US cutlers I'd heard of. As we all know, this iconic knife took the world by storm, but all we saw over here, at that time, were cheap knock-offs and imitations. I wouldn't have carried one of those, but I'd have given my eye-teeth for a genuine Buck 110. Strangely, while they became available here, years later, I never actually got round to picking one up. Sometimes, someone would post one here, and it'd bring back memories of my teenage longings, and I'd think I should get one at some point. But now I have one, and a very special one I think :) It sure is one heck of a knife, and I can see why it really shook up the knife world in the 70's, and why it continues to enjoy such success

Thanks to Tyson and his good lady for their kindness, and for taking me back to being a teenager :) Maybe I need to get a motorcycle again ;)

Well done, Tyson... Repping California. 🤠
I am just reading through the Laws field guide, pretty amazing 😎👍
Very nice care package! My Buck 110 that I have carried throughout the wilds of California and elsewhere in the American West since late summer 1973 (just before my 13th birthday).View attachment 1944158
Fantastic Mark, that's a long time to have a knife, must have some happy memories 🙂👍

Nice goin' Tyson A Wright Tyson A Wright !
Thanks for sharing this with us, Jack!
I'm going to hunt for my 110, that I haven't seen in awhile. At 72 I wouldn't mind feeling like a teenager again! 🤣 :D

We're glad you like the care pack! Hope you feel well enough soon to get out of the house again. I do think the 110 works better on the belt than in the pocket (it's like carrying a brick around in the pocket 😆).
Thanks again Tyson, I've been reading the books this afternoon :) I can't believe how many days I've been Confined to Barracks this year! I'll definitely belt-carry the 110, maybe it'll even my sciatica limp up! 😂
Congrats Jack and well done Tyson A Wright Tyson A Wright 👍
Thanks Steve :)
Hard to go wrong with a 110. Good job Tyson A Wright Tyson A Wright !
I must be one of the last folks here to try one out! 😁

Well done and very generous of you and what great timing to give Jack a lift during difficult times.
That’s a fine looking 110 Jack. It’s the first serious knife I ever purchased with my own money back in 1974. I still have it. Congratulations on the wonderful books too!
