Everyday I scroll through bladehq and admire the photos of the boker kalshnikov.:D It's so irritating knowing I can't have that baby shipped to my doorstep! :grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

There are ways around everything, maybe an individual will ship to your address, of course you always take the risk of getting into trouble if you're caught with an illegal knife. The knife companies are only following the laws so they don't get in trouble

It's a great knife to just have fun and mess around with. And surprisingly sturdy. I've done some terrible things to it like stab it through wooden cases and hacking away at sturdy cardboard boxes. I even hacked up my old couch with it, so it would fit in the back of my van. It simply shrugged off all that abuse. If you ever get the chance to pick one up instead of having it delivered to you just go for it.

Oh please! I live in Western Europe!? Knives are TWICE as expensive here and don't even start about guns.
Kind regards from Amsterdam

Knives, Im ok with whats available here which is practically everything other than autos and balis which I dont care much for anyway. Heck, 99% of the state doesnt even have blade length limits which is a beautiful thing. Concealing fixed blades is banned though which utter BS, it has to be showing.

What's really frustrating is the gun control. They make it really difficult to get a CCW permit in most counties and how handguns have to be on the approved list to be able to be bought at the store. Some if the most common/popular pistols, you cant get without jumping through hoops. 10 round magazine limits, the list goes on.

Believe it or not, CA knife laws are really pretty loose; pretty much everything is ok here except balis, autos and concealed fixed blades. You have to watch out for
the city restrictions though; Berkeley, for example, has a 3" length limit for folders.

Yet you can buy a full sized Griptilian at REI Berkeley which is over 3". I EDC a full sized Ritter Grip and never have been bothered by BPD. I love in Berkeley
Many restrictions come into play after you already did something else to break the law.

Most frustrating is new handgun models must be CA approved so many new models don't get sold here.

Not to derail this but recently the 9th Circuit ruled on May Issue CCW permits and found it to be unconstitutional.

Yeah, I hope Kamala Harris doesnt get her way. Theyre fighting real hard to overturn the ruling. Last I heard theyre trying to recruit a judge that's willing to take it on.

Some counties still wont issue it though. Good luck convincing the Sheriff in heavily populatd places like SF to issue you a license. My county San Joaquin in honoring it for now and is now a "shall issue" rather than "may issue".

Here is a link to California penal code 21510. It says what is ILLEGAL for us Californians to do with switchblades. This is not someones interpretation of the law, it is the actual penal code from California's official legislative website http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=PEN&sectionNum=21510.

Notice how in 21510 it says that it is illegal to "sell" a switchblade, it doesn't say anything about purchasing a switchblade. It is NOT illegal for us to purchase switchblade in California, even one with a blade 2" or longer. You are not breaking any California state law by ordering a switchblade in California, even one with a blade 2" or longer. You really have nothing to lose by placing an order for a switchblade, the worst that can happen is that the seller won't fulfill the order. But from what I've read on this forum over the years, Bladehq will ship switchblades to people in California (do some research about that in this forum and the auto forum).

As far as the shipping of switchblades is concerned, it's the SELLER that has to worry about the law, not the buyer.

It is now past a single judge being able to hear it, and also was not appealed to the full 9th Court of Appeals either.

California, leading the nation in DUHhhhHHHmb, since 1850.
(Californistan born & raised & freakin' tired of the duh factor.) Just look at Leeland Yee, what a total b-movie joke.

I just tried to order an auto from hq and they wouldn't send it, though they will send a protech sprint (cali legal 2 inches..). Autos and balis are legal to own but not carry indeed, some cities have 3 inch laws, and the fixed blade law in crazy. I can carry a BM 741 concealed but not my little two inch becker.. frustrating indeed..

just saw the op date. sorry

any Fixed blade knife can be carried open carry. Auto's/switchblades under 2" only can be purchased, sold, traded, or carried. Any folding knife of any length even the Mad Max line of knives can be carried anywhere upon your person. Daggers are legal in California as long as you open carry the dagger. I know that any federal government land, or building has a 4" blade limit on folders. For the most part knives are pretty easy to carry you just have to watchout for specific city knife laws

so far the biggest issue i have run into is the ignorance of cops when it comes to these laws. i had my zt301 confiscated by a couple cops in susanville awhile back. i tried to explain that they were not switch blades nor were they spring assist. They weren't having any of what i was telling them. goodbye zt301. about 6 months later i was stopped on the street in redding and had my zt hinderer confiscated for the same reason. i even told the officer about Penal Code 653k (which explains why these knives are legal) but again he wasn't having any of what i was saying...no more carrying assisted opening knives while i'm living here.

I have been known to be the south end of a north bound mule. The following process might not be for you, but this is my planned process if this ever happens to me. YMMV.

When a perfectly legal knife is to be confiscated, I will ask for a signed receipt with a legible name, rank and badge number. I will then go to the chief of police and request its immediate return. If it is not, I will then call the state police (Texas DPS) and file a theft report and report it to the local news agencies.

If the LEO in question refuses to provide me with a receipt, I will file a theft report AND report it to the local news agencies.

May or may not work. May or may not cause me issues down the road. BUT, I have been robbed 6x and I refuse to ever allow anyone to steal from me again if I can help it. Illegal confiscation is simply theft. Maybe being a retired Naval Officer (+20y), a retired FF/EMT (+22y) and a law abiding Texan gives me a different perspective. Again, see my first sentence.

The long term solution to your problem is to simply move out of the peoples republik of kalifornia to a locale that is more conducive of the lifestyle you choose to live... That is exactly what I did.
