Question, does any body know if I can carry
A concealed civilian in California not the la
area but in fresno. Is the blade less than four inches long. The reason I ask is that I will be getting one shortly and would like to make it my EDSPD >every day self preservation device. Thanks in advance

I was always under the impression that if the folders blade is 4inches or more it would be illegal to carry concealed. Heres another one for ya. is it legal for me too
wear a fixed blade neck knif under my shirt?
thanks for any help you could provide.

Do a search here for threads/posts by Jim March. You'll learn a lot of California law from Jim. Sorry, but have no idea re kneck knives. I somehow doubt that the fine citizens of Fresno are as PC as those of the LA and Bay areas.

The City of Fresno has no specific ordinances covering knifes. I'm not sure about the county, Clovis or nearby cities.

One forumite had some blade trouble while on campus at CSUF. CA penal code is stricter on educational property.

My other home, Sacramento, has a three inch blade limit. My Cop friends there confiscate a lot of junk knives.

Hope this helps-

Seth

On the fixed blade issue. A neck knife under the shirt would be a felony in the Former Grand State of Califorina.

Thanks guys knowing about the neck knife
will absolutley save me some troubles.

You can carry any size folder concealed. You can carry any size/style fixed blade so long as it's open. A 2" neck knife under your shirt is a felony, a concealed Sifu or Civilian is fine.

The above posts are correct. In California, any length folder is legal concealed, even one-handed opening. No fixed blade can be carried concealed legally. The law may be more strict in government facilities, schools, and individual municipalities.

Note that:

1) I'm not a lawyer or LEO, so check the laws yourself (though in this case, you have received accurate information)

2) Even though California state law permits one-handed opening folders, if they are loose enough to flip open easily, they could be included under the definition of a gravity or inertia knife (the switchblade law).

3) I can't speak for LEO's you may encounter, but a Civilian may be more questionable carry than a plain edge Endura because of the long blade and, in the case of the Civilian, the serrations and curvature of the blade. I don't normally carry my Sifu for this reason. There are some LEO's who may not be familiar with the knife laws of California.

I know this is off topic, but would any of you Fresno forumites consider getting together? I'm the one who had the trouble at CSU Fresno. And yes, we're fighting it.
If you guys want to meet up, I'm game. E-mail me.
