California Rain and Snow

I lost a few big oak trees at my property in Placerville but, otherwise, all is well. It’s been raining a lot but we can use every drop (barring floods of course). I am definitely looking forward to Spring though! :)
Well, it’s always spring or fall here in the City by the Bay and I wouldn’t want it any other way. 😀

San Diego's been getting the tail end of the storms coming out of the North, so while we aren't dry, we aren't flooded either. This next set is coming out of the tropics and San Diego may get more.

As a native californian I always consider rain a blessing. I know that we need it. Also as a native californian, I will not live in any house which is in a low lying area. Despite what the Chamber of Commerce says, it's not always sunny in California.

Always good to be a stainless fan in rainy weather.

Yep, what used to be called for many years, “The Pineapple Express “ is now an “Atmospheric River”. Go figure. I can already hear my kids saying, get with it Boomer! 😜

This is what our backyard looked like a few days ago. Cindy (my wife) shoveled this section out so the dogs would have a place to go - you know, GO We're up in the Northeast corner of California and get snow every winter but haven't had snow like this in about the last three or four years. We're suppose to get heavy snow again tonight and tomorrow.

For what it’s worth, I finally realized what your username means. My wife and I go up to Modoc County every fall to Cedarville to the hot springs for a few days. Can’t beat the night sky’s. It’s a few hours away from me in western NV, but I love the drive. Anecdotally, south of me is flooding pretty good. I’ve gotten lots of rain and snow on the eastern side of the Sierra.

I'm in Trinity County at about 4000'.
The first part of the storm (two weeks ago?) dumped about 4-5'. This past week brought another ~6+ feet.

Since then it's been raining and freezing so the snow pack is down to about 4-5' but it's HEAVY.

Walking through it sucks.
Driving out is impossible right now but I have a friend with a huge excavator who will clear a path up my 4x road in a couple days.

I'm good though.
Ain't my first rodeo.

My aunt and uncle live in Lake Tahoe. They're fully snowed in now. And that area is used to big snow during winter, but even a lot of the ski resorts are closed due to avalanche risk.
