Call From A Former Girlfriend

The fact that you are on here asking a bunch of strangers if you should tell your ex what type of knife you got her is pretty pathetic imo. You make it sound like you are giving her a kidney. Be a man and help your ex out without even thinking about it let alone posting a thread. It took you more time to post this thread than to answer her question. :jerkit:

I guess in the anger caused by your misreading the OP's first post, you missed his second post....

Her husband can get her the new one. All I did was tell her what the old one was. It's only the VG-1 version in short supply. The AUS 6 version is readily available.

....might wanna ease back off the trigger there cowboy ;)

Mmmm... do you think she was trying to rekindle the relationship? To me, calling you about the knife wasn't about the knife, it was a reason to call you.

Just my .02

+1 This sounds classic, but since she is married, I would run the other way.:D

Send her quarter so she can call someone who cares. Hell, put two quarters in and a paper clip so they can lock together. LOL. I mean if that was an ex of mine that would have been a real short conversation. " I lost my favorite knife" :Click: "um...hello".

Watch the OP has it laying next to their keyboard with that sh*t eating grin.

Two thoughts about this thread
1) An awful lot of transference going on...My guess guy's reading this have been burned and are projecting their emotions.

2) How great is it that an ex had a knife called "Doublecross"?! I love the irony!!!

Yup, lot of projection going on. Told the story because we get all these threads about "what knife do I get my wife/girlfriend/daughter?" Point was that women can get as attached to their knives as we do when they get one that suits them, and what suits them might not suit us.

All the supposed personal stuff says more about those posting it than it does about me. I'm still on excellent terms with both this woman and her now husband, with all my former girlfriends, in fact. I was glad to do such a small favor, and delighted that she had gotten so attached to the knife. Only doublecross involved was the knife. I'm not the marrying kind, and she met a man who was. Nothing to get upset about, and nothing but affection on all sides.

Must admit that the guy wanting me to stick the husband with the cost of expensive version was funny, though.

Here is a story for projection.

Back when I was much younger, I caught a GF cheating on me red handed.

I got a call from her to come over. She didn't realize I knew about the other guy.

I acted normal, went inside and when she went to the bathroom, quickly retrieved the brand new Benchmade Reflex I bought her.

I Then confronted her. She cried, begged and pleaded, but I said, "sorry gotta go."

And so off I went, with a smile on my face from that knife in my pocket.:D

Cripes he just wanted to know the name of the knife so he could tell the ex-girlfriend what it was.

Those of you offering relationship advice read way too much into the question.

Yeah, lotsa people here are sore about their own breakups apparently.

I agree, I still talk to my last GF, and she was married for two years without telling me! (he was in the military the whole time) Yes, I broke it off, but we still email and keep in touch. Life is too short to harbor grudges, I think.:)

This sounds like the poorest excuse to contact an ex I've heard so far. Do yourself a favor and run. Don't buy her a knife, or talk to her about one. If she is out of your life, keep it that way. Or else the only thing thats going to get cut, is you are your chances for moving on.

My 2 cents.

I didn't see the story as the OP asking for relationship advice, so I won't offer any. I do think it was an amusing story!

It's perfectly possible to have an amicable breakup. I think in situations like this it's best not to read anything into the thread that hasn't been stated. He wants to know the name of the knife, because she wants to know the name of it. Perfectly reasonable situation. No need to project your own ex-GF onto the threadstarter's.

Ok so I don't get it, you seem like you were going to do that all along...what's the point of the thread? :thumbdn:

I have to agree with freq, once it's over....what's the point in continuing to talk to them? Nothing.
