Yes, and that choil could have been added at the factory. Pre SHSHII, the birds beak steel hearts did have that upper pseudo choil. Someone who ordered an SHSHII could have asked for that and Busse would have done it.

This is the part that stuck out to me - just doesn't stand out as something you normally see, but the fast pass is, you just never know what Jerry threw out there in that exact moment in time~ Cobalt is the caliber of expert needed in a case like this ;)
 
Looks like a real Busse to me. Only thing I’d be curious about is if that top choil is factory. From the pics looks like it’s not, but the angles are weird.
 
So with the old line it was common. Many of the smooth bolt A2 or ats34 steel hearts had that top choil. I have not seen one on the SHSHII before but that doesnt mean it couldn't have been done. I just dont think anyone would try to grind off a upper choil on a fully hardened blade. What a pain. My guess is its factory. I'd love to see a spine shot of that area.

Yeah, and it appears to have been done on the one above. That's a lot of work. For not much gain in usefulness

But Amazon sells half round diamond files very cheap.
I'm going to buy More as backups

I bought mine to put a deep choil on a Becker BK9. It worked beautifully.
Id never use a dremel for that.I

I hit it with a file and it just skated off of it. Way too hard. I had so little to take off to clean it up I used a Dremmel with a drum and a Diamond bit to groove it.

OK...I'm just catching up and when I saw this I said ...... a lot of bad words.....But, you and everyone else have expressed plenty. With that I must add at least this, for my own selfishness.... but WTF??????? Are you fk'n ...... sorry.... but, just wanted to express my deepest ....WTF? .... ~ But, being glass half full kinda guy, there's a step forward that will turn out positive. Best wishes on your journeys. Not that it helps, but we have all fk'd up, that's how we share your pain. If one hasn't, then it's alligator tears. It's still a killer old skool snag -
