He's been off the boards for a few months. His internet may not be up and running. Maybe Judy needs to check on him?
 
VG is alive and about as well as he's ever gonna get! Undead rodents have unnatural lives.

I spoke with VG about 2 weeks ago this past Wednesday. Jim March was in Pahrump and needed to get a hold of VG. Before I got my email, Jim had contacted Visiting Angels and they had hooked Jim and Dave up. When I talked to Jim, he was going to go visit Dave that evening.

Apparently Jim had been in Pahrump on business and had stopped at the local pawn shop. Well, we all know VG has fallen on hard times, and many items in his collection have ended up at the pawn shop. The particular knife was a BF collectible, if I recall. Maybe one of the first, and Jim had been in charge of that knife deal and he had knife #1. Well, he saw the number on the knife and realized it was VG's. He thought maybe it had been stolen from him, etc.

Anyway....Jim was going to return the knife to VG. I have not talked to either of them since that afternoon. Dave sounded about as good as I have heard him sound in quite a while.

I don't think Dave has been online much. I asked him about posting on BF but Dave said something to the effect that he has to be in the right frame of mind to do his funny VG stuff, and he just hasn't been there mentally. I don't think he does much online at all. I don't believe he even answers his email. I have checked his email a few times to delete the spam, etc, and I see new email listed that has not been read yet. So the computer just doesn't do it for VG like it did when he had a full brain.

Maybe we should tell VG to follow the yellow brick road? If he can get to Oz, the Wizard could give him a brain. Because of the wonderful things he does!

So cancel the BOLO. VG hates those. I sent the Sheriff out on a check the welfare call because I couldn't reach Dave and I was concerned about his emotional/mental state. Dave was NOT pleased. I was, because the female deputy called me at home and told me that he was fine and to please call back if I was concerned in the future.

He's probably wishing he had some new Fire Department T-shirts.... :D

(Ken, I never did check back with VG to see if he ever got any after you and I emailed about the follow-up.)
 
Talked to him today and he is doing OK, broke but OK. He doesn't like to post because he feels like a dufus when he types. His left arm is still not capable of fine movements and he hates to try typing with only one hand. Mentally he is better than he has been in a while, his attitude is good and some of his sense of humor has returned.
 
You should tell him no one knows his arm is a doofus on the internet, his arm could be a supermodel for all we know.

Please tell Dave that we miss HIM more than VG. VG is a fun fiction, but Dave is our real friend. We all, here, I think, understand that Dave has gone through some rough times. We're concerned about Dave. We understand that -- and why -- VG just might be taking a holiday right now. But can Dave come out and play? We'd love to see just Dave himself, however he is right now.

I'd like to think that more social contact, even if by keyboard and screen, would be good for him. And he doesn't have to be VG.

Next time, tell them to send a cuter deputy... better yet, hire one of those other "deputies" to go and to the health-and-welfare check on him.


Seriously, Judy, thanks for all of your help to VG.
 
I don't know VG that well, but from his posts he sounds like a good and hilarious guy. I remember Rodney Dangerfield saying that he didn't find humor in anything any more, and that was a sad thing to hear. I hope that VG can still find humor in BF, because he added to that humor with his posts. Maybe just reading BF can brighten his days. I hope he comes back, but I will not press the issue.

Next time you talk to him; tell him lots of guys type with only one hand while on the internet. The motivation might be different but the end results of typing can be the same. :)
 
Heck, I never learned how to type at all. I still stare at the keyboard, hunt and peck. You don't need two hands for that.

On the other hand, after my Dad had his stroke, the keyboard drove him nuts because he did touch-type. He described it as his right hand wanted to do it, but didn't remember how. He now does most of his typing with his left hand, and he is right-handed. It slowed him way down.

So VG/Dave if you are out there, just drop us a "hey, I'm still breathing" once in a while. We worry about you :o

Evidently the "R" key on his keyboard doesn't work. Thanks guys for all the support and caring.
