Calling ALL Wicked Edge Hair splitters....

Many times the scratches are from cross contamination between grits. Going from 1k to the strops can be a bit of a stretch but can be done. The 1200/1600 ceramics or some 1500 and up grit sandpaper taped to the 1k stone is a good mid step b4 strops.

As my oldest says, "Tru Dat". I added 1500 and 2000 grit steps to my "between" the ceramics and the strops -steps. With very positive results both to the mirror finish as well as edge refinement.

Yea, I've been trying to keep cross contamination between the grits from happening. So I'll wipe the blade down after every stone. But I'm a little worried my strop might have other diamond particles stuck on them. Is there an easy way to clean the strops to bring the bare leather back. And how do you guys store your strops?

I scrape mine with a credit card edge and store them fact-to-face in the plastic bags they came in. ALL W.E. paddles are stored in a tupperware storage drawer apparatus from my local ACE hardware store. Makes for nice storage.

Nice setup, also like the usage of the clear plastic cover for the sharpener. What are you using as a base there? Is that a trough for waterstones?

Thanks. The cover works nicely. The base is HDF over MDF sitting on a rubber base.
The workshop is the backside of the finished basement (Built the whole mess myself) has become my ManCave. ALL the comforts of home gun/knife/ammo safes are behind me when facing the workstation.

Ok, I admit ive had a cpl drinks, what is "HDF over MDF" for the life of me I can't figure that out. I'm sure its gonna be a Duh moment when you tell me. And yeah, guns are my recent attraction. Makes knive collecting cheap by comparison. Nice cave, if I ever clear mine out i'll photo it. lmao.
