Im sure im supposed to post this here, anyways
...
I have a Paramilitary m390 and a Perrin PPT coming in via express. My tracking says "Your item is currently being held for clearance" as of yesterday. It's my first time using express mail (its taking its sweet time, sent of 31st Dec) and was wondering if that was normal. Does this mean I have to pay tax?, Im just really curious.

Thanks for any help

Mailing questions generally fit best in FEEDBACK, so I moved this.

I would guess you got a notice from Customs which means whatever tax or fees they assess. But I'm going to see if I can get a Kiwi here to help out. :)

kia ora bro.

I wouldn't worry too much about what it says on the online tracking system; it doesn't necessarily mean you'll have to pay tax. It's probably just being processed. Getting something during the holidays will always take longer. Then again, everyone's trying to squeeze out a few extra dollars out of people these days so who knows. But, imo, here in NZ you'd have to be pretty unlucky to have to pay tax on only a couple of folders.

Mind you, to be honest, I have always had much better luck sending items rather than receiving them.

Sorry I can't be any more help. Good luck!

GST is only required on items over $700NZD inc shipping. Under that and it wont be held unless its a commercial item.

Held for clearance literally means its in a storage room at customs waiting to be stamped.. can take a day, or a week, or 2 depending on how busy they are..

If your Customs work like our post office, incoming mail gets put into rolling stock: big canvas tubs or metal hampers and they sit till everything that came earlier gets processed. SOMETIMES containers get shoved up against a wall and later arrivals get pushed up against them before they work them off in reverse order of arrival -- the idiots.

Hi!

had that with a number of packages over the holidays, one was held for a week, but all got here fine, no taxes either...

glad to see more Kiwis here :)
