Yea I got one or two but I'm at the airport right now and couldn't take my entire score with me. The Busse crew is going to mail it to me but I got enough to help some of you that were not able to make the show. I was hoping to meet and talk with more hogs but only a few made the long trip. But those that I did meet kicked ass, we had some great talks and had a great time. If you wondered if you should have made the trip, I would have to say it was amazing. I can see the new direction Busse is headed in and I'm very excited! I saw some really amazing prices and wish more showed up to apprcite it for the two seconds it was on the table before I saw it:-)
For those that were able to pick something up, congrats cause I caught a glimpse of them and I'm green with envy! Just wanted to thank Garth and Woz for the great time, I had lots of fun!

Seems like only 5 or so known piglets made the show? Plus maybe some secret squirel stealth hogs? So not much trough action, pretty much easy pickings. Were there many other people at the Busse table?

and we have seen no reports on the evening drinking sessions. Danny get's a pass; what about the other piglets?

Jerry did NOT make the show, and there really wasn't a feeding frenzy like at Blade. However, Dan DID buy a LOT of knives, and I have to say that he is a pretty cool guy. AZTim did OK too!;)

I was happy to meet Tom the Baker, AZTim, Gus, Dan, Sumo, and anyone else I already forgot.:o I will try to get some pics posted either later tonight or tomorrow -- it has been a LONG day!

Oh --- Garth and Woz are totally cool!:D:thumbup::thumbup:

Not for the faint of heart, pictures HERE.

You know what, I don't know if I will post pictures after all. Most of them are leaving my hands to some good friends and I don't think it would be right to post pictures. Those who get them can post pictures if they want others to know they have them. After all is said and done, if I have some left, I'll throw some pictures up.

I think what he means is this is where the pic's will surface ....

There seems to me to be a bit of a change happening Show wise ... there used to be a Ganza after a Show if the knives did'nt sell so that other Hogs could get a chance at the Show Stock ....

Now you just check out the exchange .... even if you made the show you might find the need to check the exchange afterwards .... it depends who got there early .....

You have to remember that for some this is now a serious business ....

My understanding though is that this show did'nt have that many attend .... at least not from the Busse hard core .... but the hard core are sharp to figure out that there is no point in going if dealers get an early viewing and take the choice piece's ....

The difference is the amount of knives that are being bought .... lose out to a couple of stealth Hogs and there may be two or three each that they buy .... lose out to a dealer and the haul can be so big that they need shipping seperately .... as in you could'nt fly with all the weight .... that is a lot of knives!!

Therefore you need to carefully consider the economics of going .... factor in travel costs etc and it might prove cheaper buying off the exchange and paying the mark up ...

If you are abroad and in different time zones the aspect of the exchange being a 24 hr venue is better than a Ganza .... Ganza's are 9.00 pm Eastern time which is 3.00 am GMT .... so for us the exchange works easier .... depending ofcourse on when the knives go up ....

It boils down to "horses for courses" .... and you need to figure out what works best for you .... most of the guys who buy big will go out of their way to try and help you if they have what you want .... there may be a mark up in it but then making a profit and a business is the American way ....

It might however be the "kiss of death" on doing the shows though .... not many are going to invest in travelling if they come away frustrated .... worth thinking about anway .... I know I would be gutted if I arrived when the doors opened after a fast jog to get to the table to find it was already raided .... you would only want that to happen "once" ....

Guys, the debate over buying and re-selling will always go on, and I do NOT do that myself. (I can't afford it!:() However, keep in mind that the re-sellers have to front the money themselves, and technically we ALL have the chance to attend shows, etc. Dan (Liu Kang) is really a nice guy, and was willing to treat me right if I wanted something that HE had already bought that was not already promised to someone else. AZTim is the same way, and I am really glad that I got to meet them - they are great guys!:thumbup: I admit that I am envious of guys that can do that, but I certainly don't harbor any ill-will toward them. Heck, it took me a LONG time to pony up the money to buy my first Busse Combat knife, but I'm glad that I did, and now own several more.

Two old axioms come to mind:

If you snooze --- you lose

Money talks --- B/S walks

So, let's congratulate those who are able to buy in quantity or selection, and try to make the shows or Ganzas! ;)

i feel the same way. although i'm still gonna try and make blade, even if some has a dealer pass. some of us are there for the "family" to, and not just the knives. this year was my first, but won't be my last. i had something in common with everyone i meet. that speak's volume'sto me. hhmmm now how does one get a hold of a dealer pass anyway?

It seems like the shows are for individuals who just want to score one or two or five special knives you don't see online. Or to get some common knives at a great deal. If dealers are glomming up knives and virtually decimating the show inventory why not just set up agreements separate from the knife shows? Allow the dealers to buy from an inventory separate from the stock going to the show.

Ya know, business is business and money talks but it seems you'd have a lot of unhappy campers if a bunch of people travel only to find someone was given differential treatment. I'm not knocking anyone personally. A few of the dealers have been a big help to me around here. It just seems like everyone can be kept happy.

Ogre - getting together with the folks at the show is as important to me as buying knives there. I am sure glad that we got to meet you at Blade - you ARE a character!!!:D:thumbup:

I arrived at the A.G. Russell show at around 12:30, a good half-hour after the VIP opening and there was PLENTY of knives on the table. Of course, this show is WAY smaller than Blade and really focuses on custom makers. But I agree with you about a DEALER/EXHIBITOR pass - that should ONLY be available to actual dealers/exhibitors and their employees!!! ;)

This thread is headed in the wrong direction but to answer some questions, I am a authorized dealer for Darrel Ralph, we are good friends and we had business this past weekend. I get no special deals or favoritism from Busse crew, I believe they are nice to everyone and no different with me. I didn't get to get to the show until about 3pm on Friday so all of you had first shots and three hours do decide what you wanted to buy, play with and fondle all the knives there before I got there. So you had a great advantage over me on that day. For all those that didn't make the show and are complaining... well, enough said. For all that are jealous, get over it, life's too short. For those of you haters, you'll find it's easier to get what you want by being nice. I have lots of friends that I went to pick up knives there for, and I'm always keeping an eye out for them. They are looking over what I picked up for their own collection. If you don't like it, beat me to it, show up for the next show and show your support for the Busse crew. You all knew they are going to bring it and bring it they did.

tom it was my pleasure to dine with you and your very understanding wife.;) not once but twice that weekend, please send my reguard's to her. i hope my ragged apperance didn't spoil her meal's to much. now don't let tom pull the wool over your eye's guy's. i was taking note's on how a character should act.:D he is subtle about it, but it is there. ya'll think i'm a charactor we also had coldone in our mist at the feedbucket, and his (also very understanding) wife. who also as some know, coldone beat out the hog's on the ash contest. bad dog.;)

The image I'm getting in my head is not one of knives, but one of someone with hurt feelings. :foot:
