Calvin and the Snowmen

Best comic strip ever IMO.

I like the one where he makes copies of himself and instead of doing his chores they all go out and get him in trouble.
 
I really miss the little bastard. I was a lot like him--who wasn't? Gotta hand it to his creator. The guy would only allow books and calendars of his comics. No other merchandising. He probably turned away millions. If he had a nickel for every one of those car decals of the kid taking a leak on whatever, he could buy Donald Trump! The decal was ripped off from a drawing of Calvin, standing in the corner, hands in pockets, sulking.

I wish he'd come back--The Far Side, too!
 
We have all the Calvin & Far Side books - we defintely miss that type of humor. A lot of the comics just don't go there anymore with the exception of Get Fuzzy which has been awesome lately. Even the comeback of Opus didn't help because they've changed the style.

Oh man..thanks a ton for posting those. It's the first time I've seen the last few.

I always wished they made that strip into a cartoon when I was a kid.
 
It's probably a good thing that strip came later, I'd been trying to do the stuff he was doing.
 
I've got the whole book! And it keeps me laughing, to this day.

I still see a lot of Calvin in my little Benjamin.
 
One of those rare moments where I would employ giving a chiclet. My eyes are still tearing from laughter!

I *wish* Bill Watterson made fortunes, although he didn't. He deserved every penny.

A little known comic that has a lot of Wattersons flavor (and the art is strikingly similar as well) is one called Frazz. It's about a twenty something that works as a grade school janitor. I've always suspected the writer/artist of this strip had close ties to Bill Watterson. In one of his recent strips, othe central character mentions (as a part of the joke) that he worked for Bill Watterson.
 
I'd never saw Frazz, but I see the resemblance easily. Cool. :thumbup: Now if they would only replace Doonsbury with that.... :mad:
