Caly 3.5 or Stretch?

Both have 3.5" full flat ground blades, both would be EDC when I can carry a larger blade, and neither would see super hard use. Which should I choose?

I have not had the opportunity to own a Stretch, though I hope to remedy that in the near future. Because you don't intend on beating on this knife very hard, I believe the Caly 3.5 is the better option. More refined features, like G10, wire clip and aesthetic lines make it a winner. If you really intended on using this knife hard, I think the Stretch might be a better option because of the FRN scales and cheaper price.

I prefer the Stretch. Less expensive so less likely to baby it, FRN is easier on pockets and the wider handle is better for saber grip cuts.

I do like the price of the Stretch a lot. FRN and screw construction is perfect in my book. The Caly 3.5 is good looking and more pocket friendly.

My choice would be the Stretch. I've carried one version or another of it at least 75% of the time since it first came out over seven years ago. I've tried quite a few others, including the Caly 3.5, and the Stretch just I works better for me than any of them.

See if you can find a cf/zdp stretch, there's at least one dealer with them still in stock for a price comparable to the cf/zdp caly 3.5. Amazing and underrated knife :)

I bet that is a great knife, but I suspect it will cost more than I want to spend.

I've had/have both.Likem' both, but the Stretch(FRN) feels a little better in the hand to me.

Go for the Stretch! It looks good and feels good in hand. The Bi-directional handles provide excellent grip as well. The Stretch can also be taken apart even if you are not supposed to. :D

I strongly prefer Caly3.5. I used to have original Stretch, but sold it within couple days after I bought it. Great ergos, but really do not like the blade shape. Caly3.5 is just perfect for me. The only potential issue for me, which I can see with rivet construction, that this would make more difficult to replace scales. Everything else cannot be any better. Great ergos, lovely very thin grind blade, compact for 3.5" blade size, low riding wire clip. What else does the man need? (SS bolsters and nice color jigged or flat bone scale in my case :))

I think I'm getting a Stretch of some sort, either the standard one or a ZDP 189 CF one if possible.
Good choice! It was Paul, who put me onto the Stretch a few years ago. It seems no matter which Spyderco or other brand I've purchased, the Stretch is in my pocket 90% of the time.

Another Stretch vote. It blows the Endura away, IMO, and is more comfy than many of my other knives.
