I'm really liking this so far. What was once a Spyderco weakness (blades between 3 and 4 inches), I think now it can be definitely be called one of their strengths.
Here are some weights using my home USPS Postal Scale:

Caly 3- 3.0 ounces
Caly 3.5- 3.1 ounces
Stretch FRN- 3.4 ounces

Exact same thickness as the 3.
My 2 knocks on the 3 still exist on the 3.5, pinned construction (other than pivot), and the oversize pivot hardware. I was lukewarm because of these on the 3 but the extra blade length on the 3.5 helps make up for it.
Hope these help give people an idea of the Caly 3.5's size.

Thanks for the great pics, Gollum. :)

Do you plan on sharing your impressions/review of the knife?

Very helpful comparison pics---thank you.

I am really enjoying the Caly3 VG10 I picked up the other day on the trade forum. Don't know if I could justify a 3.5 that is just a tad bigger, but I'm sure I'll be tempted at some point.

Beautiful. Not if only it came in 4". :D

Definitely will be looking at adding this one to my rotation.

Cool, thanks for the pics. I have the Caly 3 and like it a lot. I can't justify buying the slightly larger 3.5. Now if it had a 4 inch blade, I'd be all over it. ;)

Gotta pick one of these up for sure. There's so many great knives out/coming out... Its gunna be a bummer for my wallet.

Finally some pictures! Ive been waiting forever. Looks really nice and thank you for the photos

Nice -- thanks for the comparison pics. They really managed to squeeze a lot more blade in there, with minimal changes to the rest of the design.

I've got the Caly 3 in both G10 and CF, and this seems like a good choice in G10. That knife, between the VG-10 and grippy scales, is better suited to harder work and/or slippery conditions. The extra blade length would be welcome in those circumstances.

Dang, it's incredibly compact. Beginning to look like I'll either need to learn to live with textured G-10, or find someone to rebuild one for me with decent scales. :D

If only the made a bolstered smooth micarta version, right? :)

Gollum,

I'm looking forward to your opinions of this knife. I assume you just got it. I was surprised that it's out. I was under the impression it was going to be released around Dec.

I'm going to have a proto made with bolsters and cocobolo. We'll see how it comes out.

Being so compact with an extra blade length is always nice, not to mention the impressive weight at 3.1 oz. Thanks for sharing!

Gollum,
Thank you very much for pictures. It is gorgeous. I need one ASAP. Just wondering when NGK will get them. I have one on pre-order since MArch.

Gollum,

I'm looking forward to your opinions of this knife. I assume you just got it.

I will try to keep adding to my post. I'm liking it more every minute.
Someone else said it best recently, the stuff Spyderco is coming out with now is so good that the grails of the past don't really matter that much.
