Caly 3.5 Super Blue.. at last..

13aphomet patina that bad boy, stick it in a potato for a few hours and see what happens, if you don't like that give it a bath in some vinegar, or a little mustard works too. Oh yea congrats on the purchase I know you were going crazy trying to find one. lol

Thanks man! Yea, I've cut up a few apples now, and sliced a potato real quick and wiped it off and it's surprising how fast a patina forms!..wow.

I wish I had like 10 of these to try different methods..haha. This ones looking decent tho, I'm just gonna keep using it and not care what it turns out like. The more weathered the better as far as I'm concerned. I eat a lot of fruit tho, so it should be interesting.

Congrats! Its a 'super' knife steel!
(I bet you paid 243$ for it, LOL).

Haha.. what makes you say that? I actually got it for $200, these things are hard to come by!! Ask half the people in this thread, I contacted everyone I could think of to try to find one..hah

Gratz dude, I like mine so much that I got a pre-need raplacement for it. Here's the initial apple patina but it has developed much more patina now.

Sorry man, it was a shot in the dark, LOL.
An unused one just sold on the bay for that amount.
Considering how much they are sought by knife persons and how relatively rare they are, I think you were fortunate to get a great deal on a great knife.

That's such a killer look!! I hope mine looks like that someday! I've cut a few apples, so it looks like a very very mild version of that.
Awesome though! And nice edge!

Thanks, I do love the way superblue takes an edge and holds it. As for the patina, I just spent a few sunsets at the boulevard eating apples sliver by sliver. :D

Here's what mine looked like at its peak:

Back to square one:

glad I thought to bust out my camera.

Really good thread. I have the ZDP-189 / 420J2 steel version... not sure if I could get a similar effect on mine, haha.

I think the ZDP version and Super Blue version will patina differently..from what i understand.

Been totally loving this knife though. I'm glad I made the extra effort to find one.
