So ive been on a lock back kick lately actually for awhile now. Wanted something new so It was a toss up between the caly 3.5 and the stretch. Not gonna lie I went with the 3.5 zdp(should be here tomorrow) purely for athsetic reasons. Did I make a good call never held either in hand? and its just for general edc uses boxes, strings, food.

I have the Caly 3. I like the feel of it much better than the Stretch. Either would have been a good choice.

I do have the Caly 3 and UKPK, both have the same ergos feeling that I really like !

I think either would have been a good call as they are my 2 of my top 3 Spyderco folders with the other being the PM2.

You did fine. The Caly3.5 is an EDC champ. Small in the pocket with a big blade and great ergos. I carry both.

I think you made the right call. I prefer the feel of the Caly over the Stretch, and the laminated blade is just cool.

Mr. Sal used his best magic tricks on the Caly 3.5, because the blade seems longer than the scales. No one knows how he did that.

Great call. I have a SB Stretch, and picked up a Caly 3 ZDP about 3 weeks ago - and a 3.5 ZDP should be in the mail box today. That's how much I liked the 3. I actually find it a bit smoother than my Sage 2 (which is saying a lot), and it's much slimmer in hand than the Stretch. The 3.5 should be an EDC destroyer.

I have both, a Stretch and a Caly 3.5.

The Caly definitely has a slimmer handle and a very similar hand-feel as the Delica. For many, it's too slim. Not me. With its 3.5" blade, it satisfies my desire for a Delica XL.

The Stretch handle is bit larger than the Delica's but still feels good in-hand and not 'too big'.

If you prefer the feel of the PM2 or Endura, you're probably not going to like the Caly 3.5, especially with its slicker CF scales.

For my own EDC, it's still a toss up between the Delica ZDP, Stretch ZDP, and Caly 3.5.

The Caly 3.5 is the best knife design of all time, in my opinion. It pretty much a perfect EDC if you like a full sized folder. I have the standard model in VG10 and G10, and I will take it to my death bed.

It's a full flat ground, leaf shaped blade that borders right between a drop point and a wharncliffe that has the strengths of both. It slices like an animal. It sharpens up in a few passes. The ergos are classic Spyderco on full-blast with decades of refinement. Low ride wire clip. Thin pocket profile. Smooth, effortless action. And as previously stated: I have no idea how they packed that much blade into the handle.

My only, only complaint is that the pivot screws are not flush with the handle. That is a very small niggle on a 9.9 out of 10 knife.

Love my Calys on small knife days, Stretches on larger knife days. I probably carry those two types more than all my other Spydercos combined. For a really different lockback try out a Kiwi 4.

appreciate the feedback, sounds like im going to enjoy it. I actually own a kiwi 4 love that little knife.

Not a lockback, but I just snagged a Bradley Air. It's a Wharncliffe like the Kiwi 4 and just got disco'd- won't be around much longer. Very lightweight at 1.3 oz. The only knife I have that's lighter is an Al Mar Hawk Ultralight at 0.98 oz. They're my two favorite GoToChurch knives.

I love my Caly 3.5 , but I did mod it a bit to get exactly what I wanted .
The size and materials of this knife make it standout from the crowd .
