Are the blades on the Carbon fiber handle version laminates, like the FRN? Or are they solid ZDP?
If they are laminates how well do they perform, how's their durability etc.?

They are laminates, just like in the Calypso Jr.

The performance: I've been carrying a Calypso Jr. with a laminated blade as my main EDC since Spyderco made the first sprint run that was responsible for the present ZDP-189 craze on the forums. I have no issues whatsoever with the laminated blades. Sure, the 420J is softer than ZDP-189, so my knife looked a bit scruffy after a few weeks of daily use, but that happens with every knife that is used a lot. Even knives made of M2 at full hard get scratched in use.

One advantage of the laminated blades is that the 420J is very rust resistant, more so than ZDP-189 in my experience. I use my knife quite a lot near the coast where there's always a lot of salt spray about, and the only rust stains the knife got were near the cutting edge. Another advantage is that the lamination line looks nice IMO. I've been using Norwegian made fixed blades for a long time, and I really like lamination lines.

I like the color difference between the two. My Caly Jr's ZDP is starting to take on a darker yellow tint to it and it looks nice. I love it. Perfect little dress knife for me.
