Got my Caly 3 today. Super sharp, love it, etc. But it has a tiny bit of play when closed. Tight as a vault when open. Is this ok or should I send it back?

Do you normally cut things with your knife closed? If so, the blade play might significantly reduce performance. :thumbdn:

I just wanted to know if this is normal. My Sebenza has no blade play in either position. This is my first Spyderco though and I'm really impressed. It is the sharpest knife I have ever seen.

;) Sorry, jk.

I'd say it's pretty typical. My EDC (D'allara & Lava) both have a bit of blade wiggle when closed. Both have none when open.

Hard to compare anything to the hand finished and famously tight tolerances of a Sebenza. ;)

That being said, it is difficult to know if your initial question is worrisome or not. At least a 99.9% chance it is of no worry.

I've got a slight hint of play in my Seb, when the lock bar doesn't press against the blade, but that's best left for another thread:D
I wouldn't worry about the Caly as long as it's good and solid once locked up.
