Caly 3

Is it just me or is that spyderco mounting that other knife?

I shouldn't have put them in the same room the Sebenza is too sexy. Now the Sebenza has been putting on weight and craving nano oil, she may have a mnandi on the way. The Caly has run off with a Military and I am left with the bills and another blade to sharpen, what was I thinking.

Just lost mine after 4+ years of carry. :(

What a great knife it was. Very hard to replace for in pocket/in hand comfort.

I had both the CF and VG10..

The VG10 is stayed.. The ZDP is a PIA to sharpen..

The longer I am in this knife hobby.. The more I realize.. Super steels are overrated!

BINGO!!

I have the ZDP Caly 3 and it is a big PItA to sharpen. The higher edge retention just ain't worth the time.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Spyderco in some Sandvik steel. Good edge retention and ease of maintenance all in one.

I just got my Caly 3 (cf/zdp). Great blade, typically back locks aren't my thing but I was sold on the lamination lines, they add a nice pop to the styling. I haven't sharpened it yet, so you guys have me pumped about that. Its a good slim carry for fancier occasions, and a great cousin to my Caly 3 CF Damascus. That one is being saved for a special day, though.

How pita is pita? Takes me on average less than a minute to touch up vg10 maybe three to do a very dull blade with a little time on the dmt, so in relation to this how much harder is zdp?

I use DMT diamond stones and Norton SiC. It takes no time to raise a burr even if lowering the angle. The difference is in finishing the edge. ZDP requires a lighter touch.
For those having trouble sharpening ZDP, I imagine they're using Aluminum Oxide stones or maybe the Sharpmaker, which is slow unless you use the diamond stones.

Make a caly3 in S90V or 110V. I still love my super blue though.

The ergonomics are probably the best in the knife world IMO.
