Caly 3

I've had a Caly3 VG10/G10 for about 3 months now. Great knife. Love the flat grind blade. Stays sharp longer than most non flat grind VG10 blades.
Action is very smoth. Most impressed.

I should be getting my caly3 this week. I went with the G10 cuz I already have a couple milies in CF and a couple knives with zdp. I do still see the CFs for sell though.

Since we're talking about Caly 3's, does anybody have a pic of one next to an endura or a Military just for size reference?

Here you go... I was inspired by an image by someone else who had done this a while back (sorry, I don't recall who it was). The scaling should be pretty accurate. Included are just some of the knives that interest me:

Hey DainBramage, thanks a lot :thumbup:. That makes a lot more sense. Kind of reminds me of a Native with the finger choil up front near the blade. Judging the Caly 3 next to the delica, it appears to be about the same size as a Native too. I still want one .

Undecided new guy here. Anyone care to provide a quickie compare/contrast and preferences (or point to a good URL) between the Caly3 Carbon fiber with Laminated ZDP-189 / 420J2 blade (C113CF- MSRP $249.95) and the Caly3 G-10 handles with VG-10 blade (C113G - MSRP $159.95)? $90 more indicates the CF/ZDP model is better but why?

welcome aboard netdude65...the cash difference is for the fancy CF handles, the laminated ZDP189 blade, and bragging rights can't go wrong with either flavor of the Caly3 imho :thumbup:

If you are a steel junkie and looks after his knives with immaculate care and love sharpening for the sake of sharpening to a fine razors edge then go ahead and get the Caly III CF/ ZDP version. I would LOVE one of those but decided that the VG10 / G10 version is all I need (for now ) and the ergos are exactly the same. I highly recommend the Caly 3 in G10 dress, and if you like it that much then you can save up for the version with more bling

I've had 2 CF Caly 3s and traded 'em both away. Don't like ZDP189 even a little bit. It's way too difficult for me to work with and I really love VG10 for its all around usefulness in an EDC knife. It's easy to sharpen and I've never had any corrosion or chipping issues with any of my VG10 blades.

My VG10 Caly 3 gets a good bit of carry and use. It's my second fave Spyderco right behind the Para-Millie.

I've had just the opposite experience sharpening ZDP. My CF Caly 3 is one of my easiest knives to get to a razor sharpness on the Sharpmaker. My D4 with ZDP is not far behind.
