Caly Super Blue

just like to clarify on the flexy handle issue, this is not a concern for me doing cutting chores, just an observation laterally flexing the knife. I though that a carbon fiber scale would add some strenth to this design since the scales are so thin.

I have micro beveled my edge to about 25 degrees, my edge no longer rolls :)

I am still not clear on what you are doing to flex the knife. Are you holding it with both hands and trying to bend it back and forth?

If you are seeing the flexion outside of what use was intended, then I would not think that this would be an issue that a manufacturer would address. Now if you were trying to pry open a bank vault with it, then that's another problem...

The SB caly was a grail for ma and is still my favorite :) M390 para maaaaay take its place but I really love this knife. has a smooth patina and I put a nice mirror 12/side back with a coarse 600 grit 15/side edge :)

Correct, nothing to do with it's intended purpose, I still think CF scales would provide less flex and greater overall handle strenth Imo...just an observation, plus I don't like G10/plastic all that much.

It's probably just this preference that prejudices you towards thinking that there is flex on the SB Caly. Not really some actual flex while using it.

Are you sure it's not just the blade flexing? I have both the SB 3.5 and the CF ZDP 3--full steel liners and G10 make for rather rigid knives. The blade on the CF ZDP 3 is shorter so the blade flex probably isn't as apparent.

thats probably it, to clarify....when cutting with the knife I cannot feel any flex, when compared to the CF caly however the CF just feels more rigid, wish I dhad a g10 3" version to compare apples to apples....I do not have a problem with my knife, I love it. Wating on my true Grail knife the Caly 3.5 CF ZDP, that's a must have for me :D

Ok the op heart just skipped a beat when i read this. I would take a second mortgage if i had to so i could buy this if ever made.

I'm pretty sure this is going to happen and Spyderco had a proto at SHOT.(I think)

Oh my goodness..that's an immediate buy in my book. Would bump the Para from my pocket on the weekends (at least for a bit) but would certainly bump my delica for office carry. Please Sal, leter rip on the Caly 3.5 CF ZDP! Would love to start a Caly 3.5 collection...While the Para still rules in my book, if were talking about a slimmer daily carry, there are none better than the Caly 3.5 imho.

Geeze, Wish I could do this to my knives. My super blue is plain ol factory...sharp as heck factory that is. :)

After much deliberation, my Caly 3.5 Super Blue is on it's way. Better to buy new at a slightly inflated price than to have to hunt down a inflated price used one later.

Where did you order one from if you don't mind my asking. Everywhere I've checked is out of stock. I'd really appreciate some guidance on where to score one of these. The usual Ebay predators have these priced at 220 plus already. Please reply via email to avoid a deal spotting infraction. Thanks much.
