Calypso Jr. Lw plain v. Native plain

Mundele,

I have both the Micarta and the Zytel versions (Kydex is a sheath material). The Micarta version is very classy looking and really pleasant to the touch. But if function is more important to you than aesthetics, I recommend the Lightweight (Zytel) version for the following reasons:

1. VG-10 steel should give you a longer lasting edge by a significant margin compared to AUS-8.

2. The textured Zytel handle is more secure in the hand than the smooth Micarta.

3. The clip is reversible for right or left hand carry.

Stop when you get to bone.

Just got back from Colorado and picked up a Calypso Jr. Lightweight at the SFO store. It has become my favorite user Spydie. Did some leatherwork this morning and it zipped through a thick belt like it wasn't there. I got the neck sheath for it and it travels with me everywhere. The VG-10 is great. Can't go wrong with this one!

Good luck with your choice.

Steve

Thanks for the info David. I always get Kydex and Zytel mixed up. I do the same with the words "Veterinarian" and "Dentist" I have no Idea why.

I am thinking I'll probably get the lightweight one. Thanks for your help...

Joe - Thanx for the input on the "lost knife". I've been trying to chase that one down. the gentleman in charge of the project is not longer here and I couldn't get a line on it. I was somewhat embarrassed about the whole situation and planned to contct you if there was no response on my end.

I'll send you new one and "take care of you".
