hey, does anyone know how much i should pay for an old calypso jr with aus8 fully serrated blade and stainless handle? saw one in a shop and the price seemed a little high. the dude said it was discontinued so it worth worth more. is he full of crap or what?

I think the MSRP for a C52 Calypso Jr. SS was $ 84,95 and was discontinued in 2001.

This model isn't very high and popular in collectors values, maybe due to the hollow blade it has - the way I see it.

If it's plain edged, the "collector's value" is probably a bit higher than JFJ's price on the serrated version, but not a whole lot higher.

I used the have a set of the Stainless Calypso Juniors. I did like them but the Calypso Juniors I now have with ZDP-189 blade steel made me lose all of the appeal I had for them. There are not many Stainless handled Spyderco blades made after 1999 that have much if any collector value.

For instance I think one of the best built Spyderco folders ever was the stainless handled Rescue models C-14 & C-45. Not only were they built well they were pretty rare compared to the other Rescue models. However they get hardly no fanfare.

But no one knows what collector future holds. Good Luck
