Initially I put this little guy up for sale because my Manix came and I just love it. Then I thought to myself that this is really pretty close to a mini Manix aside from not having steel liners. I love the flat grind blades so I decided to keep it. The only thing I didn't like as I said was the clip being tip down carry.
My new CJ will be my city knife. My Manix for traveling and the country.
So, here I haven't had the CJ half a day yet and already it has had surgery done on it. I converted it for tip up carry to suit my tastes better. Used a 1/16th drill bit and three 2-56 allen head screws. Had to slightly enlarge the holes that were already in the clip and thread the holes I drilled. Then I custom cut the screws and mounted it right up. They tightened up just fine. I've had good luck threading FRN/Nylon or whatever the guys want to call it. I've done this same thing to some Cold Steel knives I bought that didn't come with clips. Always worked out fine.
The secret is to use a 1/16th drill for the the thread tap. 1/16th is the wrong size to use for the 2-56 size screw (just a bit small) but for FRN/Nylon/Polymer handles it makes the threader cut the threads a bit deeper and that works out well. You'd probably break the tap trying to get by with a 1/16th in metal but in FRN it is the way to go.
Now I have the perfect Calypso Jr. for me. Everything my Delica was only with a flat ground blade of VG10 steel in a plain edge. Love it!
