calypso jr.

Isn't it discontinued?

From what I see, at least the regular Caly is a locking version of the UKPK.

I've got VG-10 and ZDP-189 versions. All I can say is that it is one of the best folder designs in history. No exageration. The newer Calypso III and UKPK are very similar but with nicer (G-10 or carbon fiber) scales. You will not be disappointed.

The Caly Jr. is the precursor to both the UKPK and the Caly III designs. It's a little less refined than those, but it's still a very good knife. I own the ZDP Caly Jr. Very nice knife, cuts well, very light, and it's a good size for EDC. Fills the hand very well for such a small knife. It's one of my favorite knives.

The texturing of the black FRN handles is not very pretty, in my opinion, but it works. Not sure what version you've gotten, but if you found a Micarta version I can assure you that is a fantastic looking knife.

I would have to agree. I have both the VG-10 and ZDP-189 versions.

Same here. Two of the best that Spyderco have produced IMHO. Small, but big cutters. Strong but light and easy to carry.

Don't forget the grey and Burgandy FRN.
g. IMHO you are getting a very good blade. USE IT well.

Thanks! I've had the Caly 3..I was just wondering if there was much of a difference between the Caly Jr, and 3. I sure that I won't be disapointed.:D

Got the knife today! Scary sharp!! It came with a friend. ZDP Delica! 2 ZDP knives in one day! I am a very happy camper!!!!

I like both as well. The Jr is ground THINNER at the edge, making it a BETTER slicer. For those surgical type jobs I use my Jr. The Sage is a cutter too and a little more "all round" knife.

Congratulations! A great knife, perhaps my favorite design. The Delica is a close second. The ZDP is a bonus.

I saw a pre-owned caly jr in black micarta handle here in LA while vacationing. He wants $85 for it. It does not look like it's been used a lot except for the wear on black clip. I am thinking of going back to the store to buy it. I am not sure though if the price is right. Please give your input on the price.

A little work and those pesky Caly 3's / UKPK's can be fixed. :)

The Caly is currently what I consider Spydercos best design. I personally prefer the UKPK version for the deep choil, tip up wire clip etc. I consider this knife to be the perfect embodiment of the words "Everything you need and nothing you don't," at least for my uses.

I have the Caly Jr., Caly 3 and UKPK. It's fun comparing the three. Here's a few photos:

Demesbe, from what I know that price sounds reasonable. I would bet money on you being able to sell it on this website for more than he's asking.

My first and favorite. Love the minimalist handles and the texture. My small, fat hands have no problem holding this

I have 2 caly jr. and have given a couple away. Its one of my favorite knives for edc. Perfect size, light and full flat grind.
