I really don't know much about this particular model. I would say though that if it is a good price, I would buy it. I wish I could help by telling yoou what a good price is though. I have tried a couple of times to get one on eBay and came up short.

The plain edge calypso and calypso jr.s are pretty hard to come by these days. Either would be a good catch. I would say $80-100 is a fair price for either. The micarta calypso jr. is my all-time favorite folder (I have 3 of them).

anvilarms, if you don't want it, could you let me know where it is and how much? I would be interested in it!!

I paid $56.00 for mine new in box about 2 months ago on ebay. It's a micarta Calypso Jr. with serrated edge. I think it's one of the nicest looking/felling Spyders I've handled. I'll get a plain edge one of these days to go with it.

thanks you for all the help. i think it is the large one but the blade is aus8 and serrated. does that help??? my nephew is looking to sell it i will see that he puts it up here.
merry christmas to all that celebrate. happy holidays to those who dont. may your new years be happy healthy and prosperous

The large Calypso (which was only made with Micarta scales, to my knowledge) had a VG-10 blade. The Junior version in Micarta had an AUS-8 blade. I don't think that either of these knives used different steels during their runs with Micarta handles.

Frequently, a company will come out with a large (which is sometimes considered a "regular") version of a knife first, then introduce a smaller version after a period of months or years. IIRC though, the Calypso Jr. was actually released before the large Calypso, which may help explain why the Calypso Senior had a better blade steel.

I paid about $50 for mine. Fourth from the left in the picture below:
