To anyone considering this ...its a really nice piece. I almost bought it at the Asheville gunshow but picked up another one he had with a maple burl handle instead. Excellent workmanship....You'll not be sorry.

thanks for clearing that up, was the blade originally a file? how did u get that pattern like that?

Yes it was originally a farriers rasp used for work on horse's hoofs before new shoes are put on. The steel in the rasp supposed to be 1095. Thanks Mike
