Cameras, Cameras, Cameras

Guys, am I the only one that now hates straps? My new G10 took a light spill off my desk onto carpet (luckily a soft fall didn't even do physical damage to the case or finish) because the strap got caught on my knee or arm (not really sure). Took the strap off, and vow never to use it.

I have the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 and love it. I dont have any photo skills at all and I still get great pics with it.

I've had a few of the Canon A series over the years and am very happy with them.
+ manual control, reliability, image quality, value for money
- just a little bulky in the pocket, long flash cycle time (I like to use fill flash outdoors, all P&S flash is too feeble for much else)

My problem w the Canon A & G series (and many other non DSLRs) is that the wide end isn't wide enough. The G10 feels good in the hands though. The Panasonic you mention gets out to 25mm equivalent. My brother has an LX 3 that he's very happy with.

Google up my handle and go to my web site.
All the pics were shot with a little Olymus Stylus 800.
It'll handle torrential downpours and whitewater raft splashing with no problems at all.

I switched to digital (Nikon CoolPix 4300) in 2003, less than a year after buying a $400+tax 35mm P&S. I haven't used the 35mm since getting that Nikon and think there's still a have exposed roll of film in it!
Since then I've purchased the Canon SD700IS and SD870IS Elphs as pocket cams, and the Nikon D70 and D300 as my dSLRs.
I've gotten tired of having to lug around the D300 and SD870IS on vacation so just pre-ordered the Canon G11 as my intermediate cam.
I prefer Nikons for their dSLRs and Canons for their P&S cameras but Panasonic, Casio, Fuji and several other brands have some really good cameras on the market. Too many for me to remember.

Here are a few sites that should be helpful:
