Camillus 23 Equal End Jack

I just picked up my second 23 on a trade this week. Much cleaner than my other one (on a 1946 Old Crow add for atmosphere :D ) .

that a really beautiful one! I will definitely need to get it as well! how does it hold the edge?

That's a nice one Danny. Mine is the single blade #23.

Well, this is pulling one up from the past...

Picked this up at John's today; Camillus 23 Equal End 2-Blade Jack "The Orr Felt Company"

Guess it came into the shop some time this week. Johnny had it in his "bargain bin", I got it for $10.

Interesting to note that the Orr Felt Co. is still in business, has been since 1848.

I don't usually go for advertising knives, or big jacks, but I couldn't resist this one for some reason. I am a sucker for long pulls though...

At 4 1/2" closed, it is a handful of a knife. This example is in remarkably good condition, no rust, tight, no wobble and a fairly heavy (8-9) pull on both blades. The white Delrin scales are tight, crack-free and not all dinged up.

Almost makes me want to look for more...

Nice snag AKC! I don't think I could have passed that one up, either....especially for $10. Thanks for sharing it.

Very nice AKC!!! I found this one a few years back along with the Albany Felt Zippo. The carbon blades take a very keen edge:thumbup:

Almost 9 years old, this might be a thread resurrection record! The years have only helped that knife, it is gorgeous:thumbup:

Thanks guys. It is a fine example.

So I wonder what the connection to the industrial felt industry is and the whys as to choosing such a robust pattern for their "industry marker". Obviously the local Camillus rep, or perhaps some other officer of the company must've had some kind of "in".

Some sleuthing may be in order...

OK, sleuthing over...

That's a nice article. Goes along with a great knife. Thanks for the article! Congrats on the knife!

Here's a Camillus #23 Jumbo Jack, re-scaled by a member here. I bought this one years ago and it's one of my favorites.

I have only done one 23 mod, this one...

I've got another on the bench though right now. Stout pattern, and a handful of knife!

Glenn bad - awesome work. Very well done.

For those interested, if you can't find an old Jumbo Jack, the GEC #53 & #54 patterns are very similar in size and shape to the Camillus #23's. Seems that the old Camillus 23's are nowhere to be found for a while, then they sprout up everywhere all of a sudden. They must follow the seasons or something.
