Hello all. New to the forum and brought here by this particular knife. I am familiar with Camillus and their catalogs and production years…. However this particular knife I never knew to be produced.

Am I looking at a sample?
A knife that was ordered custom in bulk from a club or business?
Lunchbox knife?

Any help in a story behind it would be greatly appreciated

It is an American Wildlife
Jumbo Trapper
Jigged DuPont scales
Green inlay behind a Pewter BOARS HEAD
Artist appears same and knife appears factory unmolested

I am having a time posting a picture but I have some of the knife if someone would lend a hand.

Also Crossposted in the Camillus Collector section of this forum but not much activity there. Move this thread if needed

Thank you all

There were a couple of different sets i believe
Pretty sure i have a pamphlet of them
Got screwed on the bay years ago
Paid for a set but got mixmatched instead
Not just wrong serial numbers but wrong series as well

Yes there’s several offerings for sure.

But none with a Boars head inlay…. However I’m holding one haha.

I found several online with a boars head.

One example-

Yes I saw these pictures at worth point as well but that’s the only place I can find an image of one. Why are these knives not cataloged by Camillus? I can’t seem to find where they were offered or production years on them.
1. Camillus has been out of business for almost 20 years now, so you only have whats been posted on the internet
2. Not everything in existence is on the internet......

Yes this.

Great material and thank you. Apparently they were a short/limited production. But that answered any and all questions on if my knife had been molested or if had ever been a public offering.

Perfect. This is why I came.

Prior to acquiring this knife I had one or two of every variation on that list. All easily acquired. This one was just kind of a one off for me

Thanks again

You asked the question.
Believe it or not there was a time when the internet didn't exist and we had to actually do research by looking at things other than a screen powered by AI.
Just because you can't find documentation from Camillus doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It means that information published by Camillus on it has not been put in a form accessible on the internet.
Your knife looks like part of a series that was originally introduced in the 1970s using art from Sid Bell. The knives in the 2002 #6 edition had gold plated inserts, if yours is pewter its not from that edition. However there were only 8 pewter animals in the earlier first and second editions that used the #10 frame. The hog wasn't one of them.

Use Imgur, post the BBCode link that uses IMG tags

🤔 as a new member to your internet powered forum that you sir are also a member of I’m truly baffled by your approach to my attempt to question you and your colleagues on something I wasn’t well versed in? I never said it didn’t exist? I said I have one and wanted to know more about it? I couldn’t find it in any of my catalog searches. So I came here to see if anyone had information that I didn’t have access to. Such as that that may not be on the internet as you say?

It did exist and it was shown to me. Not quite mine but it got me close enough. Mine is pewter not gold but I now know for sure mine was a mass produced knife it was just in small numbers. Your internet regurgitation from your screen powered AI was correct. If you’d known it before I feel like you would have offered it instead of the warm welcome you gave me.

Every forum has that guy. I’ll go ahead and assume you sir are him.

You said it wasn't cataloged by Camillus and "couldn't find where they were offered". I never said they didn't exist, I said the information may not be accessible to people who think the internet and AI knows everything.

OK whatever.....but "close enough" is not necessarily "correct".

If the knife you have has a pewter figure its not from the 2002 edition that has gold figures. I have seen references to a hogs head knife in relation to the 1st and 2nd series that were made starting in 1976. However neither the catalogs or information from Tom Willams of CAMCO supports this. That information is not from the internet or AI, its old information from years ago that I have digitized on a hard drive.
Here are the relevant pages from 1979 showing the 1st and 2nd edition knives

Every forum seems to attract new members that are demanding knowitalls who want everything handed to them as soon as they join......I’ll go ahead and assume you sir are one of those.....

Based on this, it looks like the pewter Razor Back model, and others, were sold by Smoky Mountain Knife works. This excerpt is from a 1991 SMKW catalog, it specifically says "pewter" with no mention of gold plating. The "RazorBack Hog" is/was model CM10RH.

According to a post I read from Tom Williams here on Bladeforums, Camillus made knives for SMKW that Camillus didn't sell themselves. My guess would be that the RazorBack was one of them. EDIT: It says "Produced for and Distributed Exclusively by Smoky Mountain Knife Works".

Fantastic and appreciated information there. I’m not sure how I seemed demanding or could pose as a know it all when asking questions….

I never thought the internet had my answers…. I came here knowing I was hunting knife men behind the screens.

Pics incoming for yalls entertainment

Few more
