First giveaway

I'm so impressed by the generosity shown here. Both in material gifts, and in knowledge and camaraderie.

Want to know what you're playing for? My humble offering is:
A Camillus Boy Scouts Whittler. It could use a little TLC. Typical stuff for an older user- a little blade rub, a bit scratched up,a tiny bit of wobble on the small clip. You know: "Character." For sure needs to be sharpened. But overall solid and in good shape.

I like old Camillus knives, and I picked it up in a pawn shop, but I just never got around to carrying it. I'm not sure why. Maybe because the Boy Scouts don't have any particular significance for me. I'd like it to go to someone who would appreciate it. Maybe even carry it from time to time. The winner will also receive a little homemade bonus surprise.

I've never done one of these, so I hope I'm doing it right, and have all my bases covered:

Just say "I'm in", although pictures, stories, etc are always welcome.
You must be a regular here in the traditionals subforum (who else would appreciate this one, anyway?)
You must be legally allowed to own this knife under what ever jurisdiction you reside.
Open to anywhere USPS will deliver to, though all I can do is mail it. After that it's really out of my hands. Literally.
I'll pick a winner in about a week, I guess, depending on how much interest there is.

Cool GAW! I'll eat the first spot. Here's my favorite Camillus:

This is a really terrific giveaway and I would be honored to place my hat in the ring. My son made Eagle a year and a half ago and I would pass this along to him in honor of his achievement. Right now he carves recreationally with a Case Peanut, nothing big--ball in cage and chain designs--but this would give him something else to work with.

That looks like a gently-used, well taken care of knife. Thanks for the chance!

Awesome give away. I've been wanting a Camillus #72 Scout Knife for a while just never got around to grabbing one off the bay. I would absolutely use and carry it.

I'm definitely in!!

Thanks for the chance:thumbup:

Congrats on the 500 posts-- I bet it doesn't take you another four years to get to a thousand!

Nice whittler, thanks for the chance! Here is my favorite pic of my old Ulster scout knife.

Congrats on the 500!!..As im presently collecting Boy Scout stuff (got a cool scarf and toggle on its way to me)..I dont have any appropriate knives as yet....Please throw me in the pool and thank you for the chance......FES

I'll jump in on this one.

I believe I was around 7 or 8 when this happened. I got kicked out of the cub scouts after our second meeting. We were out in front of the kid's house(his name was nick and I remember he had an awesome salt water tank with eels and a lot of anemones) when he threw a large stick/ branch at me. I picked it up, chased him down and knocked him in the face with it. Roughly 3 weeks later my dad enlisted me in the Indian Guides. That had a little more longevity. Anyone know if that was just a NY thing?
Well anyway, I'd carry this, and use it for sure. Thanks for the opportunity.

Please count me in. Was an Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster long ago on military posts in Virginia, Alabama, and Hawaii but back then we couldn't afford such a thing. Another knife would have been a luxury.

I'll jump in, I have a co-worker that has been in scouts for decades his son is an eagle scout. I have gifted him a Camillus Cub Scout he owned that had the blade broken and would give it to him. Thanks for the chance.

Congratulations on the milestone :) I think that's a lovely knife, what a great giveaway. Please count me in if that's OK.

Always admire your belt Fes. I'm not sure they do Boy Scout belts in my size, but I do have what I think will be a most excellent belt 'on the way'! ;) I'll look out for any Boy Scout stuff for you

Thanks for the chance I´m in!

Congratz on the half 1k. I really enjoy reading your posts. I´m looking forward seeing more 500 posts in the future.

I've got one of those I bought at scout camp in the 70s. That one is in much better condition than mine, but mine served well for many years.

Great knife, one of my favorite patterns! I already have two, so this isn't an entry, just wanted to say thank you for the GAW

I have one like yours with the Delrin handles, and also this beauty which Glennbad rehandled for me in great green bone:
