Forgot to mention this knife in my enthusiasim over the HD42. This is a knife that well looks worth the money. I had a mint CQB1 with the ATS34 that I just sold and I wanted another big fixed blade but didn't want to put much money into it. This looks to fill the bill. It has the thick stock blade I like with a great blade design. The micarta handles are very ergonomic and comfortable to boot. The blade steel is Camillus's own brand of carbon steel and is the same steel used in the new Southwest Bowie. Out of the box it is sharp and will shave hair along with slicing paper. The blade coating is very unique in that it is a black epoxy coating that has the appearance of a crinkle coat. It is certaintly BLACK. The tang is also treated to the same covering since it is of the exposed variety. Blade grinds are all even and mirrored from side to side. The only thing I don't like is the sheath. It does have one redeeming quality though and that is the kydex insert. Other than that I may have to contact Nosamk about one of his kydex sheaths.

All in all another good product from Camillus.........man those boys have got it going on!!!:D  :)

This might be a very subjective question, but how's the balance? I'm looking at getting a CQB3 myself.

The balance point is right on the forefinger groove on the handle. The knife will balance on your finger when it is in this position.
