Hi guys,

long time no see. Quick question: I have two of these Camillus folder blade blanks that I got some years ago when their factory was closing. There should be a lot of these floating around, they look like this:

I'm thinking now might be the time to do something with those. Just a plain linerlock, no advanced features.

Have you seen a tutorial or plans for a knife made with these particular blanks? I have limited knifemaking experience, I know making a folder can be tough, but it's just going to be a fun project and a learning experience for me.

Thanks!

Frank that’s super generous of you. OP I’d jump all over hat if I were you, Frank’s knives are beautiful!

Josh,What sort of favor can I do for you? Really thank you for that. There isn't going to be any blade work and for me the liners scales are very easy to do up in several patterns and a cazillion handle materials in one piece.

Hello Frank,

first of all - thank you! I traced the outline of the blade, not sure if it's good enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

For me, and know I'm still using fingers and toes for a computer that blade came out about 12" long here in the forums. I'm hoping to be able to decide if I can go ahead before needing to have the blade sent to me. Please try sending that to me a frankniro2@gmail .com I also am in need of the size of that center hole which is the pivot. I expect it may be 1/8" or 3/16" in diameter. This blade was made for use in an automatic. This is not what I would make for you. But it is a flipper. It sure seems to me at this point the total material costs will be less than $80 Please continue with using my online email and even send your phone no. with a time I could call in what time zone. I have a no extra charge North America range.

I have a cuda and it's assisted, not auto. Should work fine as a straight flipper if Frank is doing it though.

Could be made for an assisted opener, Kevin, I sure don't know if. But believe I can do a simple flipper.
I'm just hoping to do a "help a guy out".

Frank, I must have misunderstood. I thought you would only give me some tips or sketches of the handle - so that the whole knife would work well as a folder. That is why I did not include actual measurements in the outline.

As much as I appreciate the offer, I want to make the knife myself! That was the whole point. Even though it's going to be miles behind anything that you would do. Sorry for the confusion, I guess my original post could have been more clear.

Not to step on Mr. Niro's toes or his very generous offer, but you might also consider giving Darrel Ralph a call. He may have access to the original CAD files for that knife.

Go with the posting above me for possible further help. Yes I did misunderstand but no harm done. I was going to draw up some "working" patterns out of Formica to show you. If you can't do that now, I suggest you drop your idea. Still, if you could send me an outline of the blade with the size of that pivot hole I will send you 1 hard pattern I myself would use out of attitude we have in the forums to help. This would certainly all be done as a gift. There would still be a lot of areas in the folder that you would need advice on. To be honest with you if this was to be your first folder You would need lots of help that we here would give. You would pretty much need a belt grinder. With much respect for your interests.
Frank
