Are the military issue pilot survival knives worth purchasing? Just bought one for $24 on ebay and was wondering if I made a wise buy

You better give the seller a kiss if its a Camillus. Thats below dealer cost. MSRP $54.99 regular leather sheath and stone, $57.99 metal tip leather sheath and stone. If you get the knife and the Camillus name isn't on it take the kiss back and give the seller a kick in the butt. I did see a reproduction of this knife $24.00 for the repro is too much! The last time I checked the Camillus Pilot knife was getting hard to find.

At $24, if it is a Camillus, that is a steal. They are definitely worth puchasing at a decent price. A well made, basic knife. Not a lot of flash, just a good user.

I have 3, one was from my dad, it was his issue and part of his EOD setup, the 2nd is a new old stock Camillus, don't have the date handy. The last is an Ontario, also new, I think a '94 IIRC. Very close in quality to the Cam...

Nice grab....

Interesting post, as I just traded my Dad a non marked pilot knife for his Camillus 1967. It was given to him a long time ago by an uncle that worked on an Airforce base in mid west Oklahoma.

Then he just told me to keep the one I offered to him. He is 82 and no need for it anymore. I also have a couple of Ontario in addition to the one with no name.

One of each US military issued model marked Camillus would be good for an exciting knife conversation in years to come. A US Pilot Survival knife is as "mom & apple pie" that you could ever hope to get in these uncertain times.
