camillus pocket knife

I recently purchased a military model pocketknife for my son. The blades are very stiff. I'm worried that he may get hurt trying to open the blades. Can anyone offer any advice on loosening the blades to a safe motion?

Sometimes Government specifications can amass to cause a "not ideal" situation.
The springs on this knife are subject to about 25 pages of specs & tests. They pass these tests fine but make it tough at best for a youngster to use the knife.
In my experience about 5 years hard use by an adult should soften it up (hardly practical!)
Please send it back to Camillus to my attention & I will do my best to make it more "civilian friendly".
Tell your son not to feel bad, even Rambo broke a nail on this one!
