Hi... I was not very clear in the description of this knife in an earlier post, so here it goes... camillus #894 4" tanto blade with 50/50 serratted edge.. black thin metal handles with U.S.M.C. stamped on them. It resmbles the german CAT knife in appearence. The knife is very stout with a strong rear top lock. Any info on this knife would be helpful. Thanks!

vraton,
I believe I covered most of this in my email response, but for everyone else....

Your knife was made with the overrun blades from the #864 PROMASTER FOLDING TANTO. We had a number of these blades leftover when the PROMASTER SERIES was discountinued. We had a large customer request that we make the tanto blade into a metal handled lockback, with USMC stamped into the scales.

The blade is 440a, heatreated and tempered to Rc 57. The combination turned out rather nice with the thin stainless scales and the stout tanto blade. There weren't many made, I believe less than 1000. Enjoy your purchase!

Will is right (as usual!)
The Promaster series was discontinued when the EPA made the adhesive unavailable

Less than 1000 of your knife was made to use up remaining blades.
