Blade: 3 1/4" CPM 154 Flat/Saber ground from 1/8" stock. Acid etched and stonewashed. Heat treated to 61/62 HRC with -300 deg. cycle by Peters' Heat treating of PA. Rides on phosper bronze washers.

Handle: 4 1/4" Green/Tan/Black g-10, 1/8" stock with camo g-10 backspacer. All stainless hardware.

Clip: 2 1/8" acid etched/stonewashed set up for right hand tip up carry.

Hi mingus801. Thank you for the compliment. The "blade extension" you're asking about is most often called an "extended tang". It's primary function is to provide a part of the blade be "covered" by your hand when gripping the knife in the opened position, thus providing extra resistance against the blade closing. It also adds some extra strength to the knife when "side loading"/prying. (you should not pry with a knife:)) Walter
