Hey guys, was looking over the Krshaw website, and saw the 1077 listed. Is it the replacement for the Outlander in D2? It is listed as a "carbon steel" blade, can anyone shed some light on the actual steel being used in this one, as well as HRC?

that is a nice looking knife.
Here's a picture

YA the Camp 10 is the replacement to the Outcast. I think it uses a chinese steel since it is made over seas, as to the exact steel, I couldnt tell ya. I might be wrong on the chinese steel too. I think the outcast is a better knife in comparison.

Yeah, hoping to get some feedback from one of the Kershaw residents of the Asylum here, lol.

The outcast was long overdue for an update. We spent a lot of time on this knife, and it boasts some major improvements. The handle is much more comfortable and ergonomically correct than the Outcast. The sheath will be a flexible carry system that is far superior to the Outcast sheath. The blade steel is 65MN which is the equivalent of 1065 Carbon steel, which will be great for this kind of knife, and should be pretty easy to re-sharpen. It will be powdercoated black to keep it from rusting. The Camp 10 handle has two points to mount a lanyard. forward or back. Oh, and it will be a lot less expensive than the Outcast as well.

Better ergonomics, tough carbon steel, well thought out sheath system, less money.....

I'm sure I'm biased, but I think the Camp 10 will be a significant upgrade from the old Outcast.

Thanks Jim, good info. I take it the pricing difference has to do with it being produced in China and with it not being D2 tool steel, correct? Did you guys not skeletonize the tang as heavily this time as well, I sa =w it is spec'ed as a full tang? I heard that was a failure point on some of the Outcasts... I'm looking for an Outcast as well, didn't realize they had been discontinued until a couple of months ago, when I started shopping for one.

I'm curious how the forward lanyard would be used. I don't think i've seen something like that before.

To help keep the knife in your hand. The back lanyard will keep you from loosing the knife, but it won't actually keep it in your hand.

While I do like the overall design of this Camp 10, I'm glad I have my Outcast! After re-profiling the edge, it's a mean chopper now. This Camp 10 is a must have for around $40bucks though! Good looks, Kershaw!

1065 isn't bad for a harder use fixed blade. I'm suprised it wasn't 8CR13MOV. All in all it'll make a nice entry level large fixed blade if they keep the price reasonable.

Any word on a release date for the Camp 10, Camp 14 (especially), and Camp 18? Also, what will be the thickness of these blades?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this thing supposed to be available sometime in 2012? I'm beginning to seriously doubt that they're gonna make it.
