This is an axe that has the edge geometry and heat treating of a good knife. I have been making these for about three years now and have received positive feedback about their utility and edge holding. I do a differential heat treating with the edge at about 58 Rockwell so they cannot be sharpened with a file like most axes: a stone will bring the edge back just like a good knife. I have not received any comments about the edge chipping under hard use, just like a good knife.

Forged from 1085 bar stock
Hickory handle
Head length: 7 1/4 inches
Cutting edge:3 inches
Handle length: 12 inches
Leather edge guard but no belt loop unless specified

SOLD Includes shipping to the US. My email and PayPal address is gldrewknives@gmail.com Please feel free to contact me with other payment methods.

Will you be making these on a semi regular basis?

Being retired, yes, they will appear as the spirit moves me. I will be teaching a class on these this month so there will be one coming out as I demonstrate to the students. Should I contact you?

Not at the present. I'll keep an eye out for them, I don't need a new camp/trek axe just yet, but I'll need to retire mine pretty soon here. I'm curious to see how yours would hold up, especially since you don't see axe heat treated this way. It was mentioned above too, this is a handsome axe, if I can have a durable hard working tool that looks good in all about it.
