Here is a polled camp hawk forged from a solid bar of 1060 steel.Edge hardened and tempered...As forged finish with a 3 1/4" wide cutting edge..Head is 7" long overall..This is not a light weight hawk..The hawk and handle weigh 2 pounds..Great chopper and hair popping sharp..The handle is curly maple.Stained with Aqua Fortis, rubbed with boiled linseed oil and finished with wax..The sheath is made from 8oz leather..
Asking $125 shipped priority with conformation in conus..Postal money orders and Paypal are both fine..The paypal address is phllpwest@bellsouth.net
Thanks

I love it, but am holding out for a bearded version.
Kentucky, what's the lowest carbon steel practical without a forged-in cutting bit, in your opinion?

The lowest I would ever go is 1045 without a bit..Just my opinion..Even then the heat treat for 1045 really needs to be right to make a decent cutting tool..
